How's your weather today? Spring isn't here in Maine yet. :-)

About 25 degrees this morning with a little less than an inch of wet sticky slippery snow here on the mountainside.

I find it very interesting how even though we live on a very small mountain by scale of the ones around us it makes a Huge difference in altitude of just 200-300 feet to how much snow there is at the bottom.

Barely a ground covering in the valley and by the time I got to the next town over the road was wet from the salt but a dusting of snow was all they had.

Trina's mom lives down in the valley right next to the river and we see a 3 or 4 inch difference in snow on a regular basis from her house to ours.

5 miles by bird flight? Maybe less.

Microclimates can be quite fascinating.

Thanks @19richie66 for finally turning on the fans and pointing them north! Today is our first day in the 50’s since last fall.  Supposed to get up to about 57 today in our area:woohoo:!  Next week looks like several 50 degree days too. So nice to finally have some spring like weather, especially after the time change last weekend. It is light now until almost 7pm.

:text-yeahthat: We live west of the largest lake in Wisconsin.  I find it so interesting how that body of water affects approaching storms.  They often split and go north and/or south of the lake.  Within just a few miles difference you can have lots of difference in snowfall or rain.  As noted Eric, the mountains play an even bigger role in microclimates for sure.

Trina and I live just West, Northwest of Sebago Lake. Not the largest lake in Maine but very very sizable and very very deep for this area so the water temperature is different from all the other lakes around as well.

The most extreme difference in the shortest Air Miles I've seen from this property was about 11 inches of very light fluffy snow (almost like feathers) on my deck, to my place of employment at the time, about 25 miles away, which had not seen one single solitary flake of snow.

I work in Portland now which is obviously right on the water. Almost every single storm there is a difference of several inches one way or the other between them and us. If nothing else, it makes for an interesting drive to work!

I live around 6 miles North of Brockville Ontario which is right on the Saint Lawrence river.

Quite often I will get snow when Brockville does not, or gets rain.

Moderating effect of the river I guess.

We hit 63* yesterday, for a brief hour or so. Winds ran nearly 50mph at times long into the evening and early this morning it was snowing a little - temperature this morning was 30*. There are frost heaves in places here on the property I've never had before - been quite an extreme and very long winter.

37 and a chance of mud.  I asked my wife to wash the truck.  She gave it a mud bath.  What a gal!

That's when you know you got you a country girl.

My honey would do that too.

Best kind of female there is right there.

60+ degrees here today with bright sunshine.  Picture perfect day considering it was a work day.  Tomorrow not so much back to around 30 degrees and a slight chance of snow.  And then on the cool side for the next few days.

Nice warm toasty 25° here in Maine this morning.

Sunny. Calm. Quiet.

Beautiful day.

I'll set and relax and read a little Louis Lamour and then get to puttering...

Building shelves and reorganizing in the cellar workshop.

More about that later in another thread.

The view from my living room recliner, aka "The Bear Chair" (my other name).

You'd be headed the right direction with that thinking.

I have all kinds of old tools and relics hanging from the walls here.

I'll have my photographer snap a few pictures for you folks.

With a cold breeze blowing here...conditions were finally nice enough for me to get the big boy toys out and start a new season of much needed range road maintenance here today.   :greetings-clapyellow:20190323_232900.jpg.14ae8509f2554f385573d7f58bcbfc2d.jpg20190323_232737.jpg.bf9b229c535811659dfefb6d544b8e33.jpg20190323_113546.jpg.d6ae33fff43726e4fb9eb94c3a7dda87.jpg20190323_165412.jpg.e2ba494723edf3093545419d6d621ea9.jpg20190323_165258.jpg.29b7b9a086194662ad7e59bfebe6bc11.jpg

I think we've finally gotten into spring!!

Went for a bit of a snowshoe this evening with my honey and our puppy.

Snow depth is anywhere from about 12-25" depending on location.

Here's a few pics.

Have I mentioned we have A LOTT of deer here?

Here's one of many deer highways through the property.

This little brook is one of my favorite places on the acreage.

Also a deer highway over it.

Spring is here, but it's snowing here in NC. Don't know what Mother Nature has in plan for you Eric.

Well. Lee. We're getting there.

Still got about 8 - 15 inches of snow in the forest path and on the bridge.

Forecast tonight for an inch or two of snow but it's going to be 50 or so tomorrow so that will disappear quickly enough.
