Picked up a nice 416-H with some wheel weights and a home-made weight rack. Starts and runs good, glad to have tractor #3 here. Not to get the other 2 recommissioned.

I pulled the hydro pump back off of my 312-A, since it seems to be dead. (I have a thread going about this...).   I think now I could probably remove one of these in about 5-10 minutes now (with the seat, fender & gas tank already off), assuming nothing is "frozen", and probably install one in about 15.  My first removal took a while because it felt like the pump was welded to the housing. Took some conniving but it finally came off.  Now hoping I can get a "known good" replacement pump for a reasonable price.

That looks like a well made piece for sure. By far the most used accessory on my horse aside from the mower deck is the 2" rear receiver. With the ball hitch pinned on I tow my 4x8 harbor freight "yard cart" around with it, but it's also perfect for skidding logs and moving the camper and sailboat from the yard to the driveway. I also have a winch, MoJack tool rack, and an ATV rack that are all super useful.

Worked on putting together the first set of duals. Those Farm Specialist tires are tough to work with when your not trying to bugger up the rims. Talk about a Jane Fonda workout!

What type of spacer did you end up using?

I  had plans to replace the axle seal on the 312.      Three hours and the hub moved 3/4".    Let it soak  and try it tomorrow.

I can see 1/2 of the key and it looks like it is in place and not damaged, so it must just be the rust.      I don't have a bearing splitter so I actually cut 1 1/8" flat washers into C shaped spacers and wedged those between the hub and transmission case, then used a BFH to shock it loose.      This did work and it is moving, but looks like it will be a fight to the finish.

I did heat it Joe.    It still took a rap to get it started.   It banged like a shotgun when it popped loose.

    It's off.

 

The key was OK and in place.         I know pulling on that flange is not a good practice, but that is what I had at the time.   For the next one, I'll make a proper puller or borrow Lynns. @lynnmor

 

Next challenge...get the key out.   I cut a small notch in the end to get a chisel under and was able to tap it loose.

Alll cleaned up and nice sliding fit going back together.

 

The new NAPA seal will be in tomorrow.     Mike. @squonk, I gave your number 11124 to my local guy and he says the new NAPA # is 27SS2259.     $9.69 each

@Ed Kennell Funny. That # doesn't even come up in my Napa Prolink. If I go to Napa online it says it's not available in my region.  Hope it shows up. Knowing Napa they are changing suppliers again and have the cart before the horse!

Cleaned up some old wheels today and was pleasantly surprised at the results...  These are from my 1974 C100 project.  I'm wanting it to be as original as it can be and keep the old vintage look.  I wasn't wanting to repaint anything but I do not like the look of rust, and especially on WHITE!  So was skeptical on how these wheels would turn out.  Surprisingly the rust came off and left original paint mostly there.  It'll be the perfect original aged but not crappy look I'm going for.  So all I did was use 220 grit sandpaper soaked in water and dawn dish soap and wet sanded them down.  Only pressing as hard as needed to get the rust coming off.  Not hard enough to go through the paint.  Anyways... I like how they turned out.  Here's a before and after of one of them
