Blue Chips 73 #24579 Posted yesterday at 08:08 PM (edited) 4 hours ago, peter lena said: @Blue Chips first thing I NOTICED , was the wide seal on that wheel bearing , ? for me thats an instant , easy removal clean out and regrease . think the use and abuse that these units regularly get , is worth regularly getting after . like lucas X HD green chassis grease , also polyurea rated , stays with it , think that hood hood looks fine , stay at it , pete I agree. If I can get to both sides of a rubber-sealed bearing, I can often pop both seals out and use my bearing packer to pump grease all the way through the bearing until the new grease comes out clean, as I'm doing in the photo below, and then re-install the seals. If I can only get to one side of a sealed bearing, I'll try to remove that seal and use a syringe like the one in the photo to pack grease into all of the spaces in and around the bearings and cage and then re-seal it. I'll look into the Lucas product you mentioned. And here's the bearing with the seals re-installed: Note: If I happen to be greasing a metal-shielded (non-contact shield) bearing with pressed-in shields, I leave the shields in place and try using my bearing packer, pumping the grease gun very slowly to avoid damage to the shields as the grease is slowly squeezed through the narrow gap between the metal shield and the inner race. If the metal shields are secured with C-clips, I can usually remove the C-clips and shields, grease the bearing, and then re-install the shields and C-clips. 702854boy 116 #24587 Posted 10 hours ago Hopefully, if everything goes according to plan I'll be able to drive my 854 shortly after school because all I've got to do to it is finish making the ignition wire, put the seat on, and put the left rear tire on. However, I know how things are and a 30 minute job will turn into three hours. 5

8ntruck 8,043 #24589 Posted 6 hours ago 13 hours ago, oliver2-44 said: What do your dock sections have for flotation? L It is not a floating dock. I'm using the Tommy Dock system of connecting brackets, poles and feet. The dock sections are treated lumber. They get floated out into place, then I assemble the poles and feet and set them to level.

The weekenders on their jet skis make good use of it in hot weather. Been pretty quiet since Labor Day. Just a fully loaded pontoon (18'?) turning and burning for the last hurrah ride of the season last weekend.

When does the lake freeze over at your place? We have a floating dock that I plan to pull out around the first week of November, which should give me several weeks of breathing room until the river freezes, which might not be until well into December. We're living in Maine now, but I lived in Bemidji, MN for a couple of years, and by comparison, mid-coast Maine has relatively mild winters. I should add that when I first installed the dock, I used my 522xi with an attachment I made to move the gangway down to the shore, but now the gangway remains at the shore (I just pull the gangway in for the winter), so I haven't needed the 522xi again for that task. For removing the dock itself, I float it onto a flatbed trailer that I back into the water and pull it out with my truck. Because of the cross-braced 'stiff-arm' system, it's always a big job to take the dock out or put it in...usually requiring at least three neighbors to help me.
