All six of my Wheel Horse RJs out for some fresh air today!  1958 and 1959s.  Wheel Horse made about 24,000 in those two years and  $2.5 million in profit- enough to buy and build a modern factory on  south side of South Bend, Indiana on Ireland Road!

I was able to save both original tires on the 67 year old tractor i bought s couple weeks ago.  They still had the tubes loaded with calcium chloride but the old valve had started to leak bad!

What is that building in the background?  Looks like an observatory of some kind?

@76c12091520h Brian had some for sale too. I bought a couple.

A hitch for every tractor is a good life goal.

A thick plastic sheet from a large flat screen TV that was dismantled. Got it from a friend. It's about 1/16". Seems pretty durable as it was harder to drill than I expected it to be

Are we worried about water getting behind it and not drying out @wallfish? Rust?

Na, greased it up with cooking spray before putting it on.

@Lane Ranger - the telescope in the observatory - I'm guessing that it is about a 10" refracting scope?

Tried @Racinbob patented input shaft shimming but kept binding it up????

Never had this happen. The only thing I can see that would cause it is shimming it too much putting a bind on the spline shaft. I always measure the play (if any) before I split the case.

Blue Chips

While I'm waiting for a few more parts and fasteners to arrive, I started doing some cosmetic improvements to my recently-acquired GT18.

I pulled off all of the sheet metal, starting with the hood, which I sanded, primed, lightly sanded again, and painted (three coats). It's just a rattle-can paint job, done with New Holland factory approved paint. The paint went on nicely and seems to harden up fairly quickly for a single-stage paint. I'm not interested in doing a museum-quality restoration, but I think the result is pretty decent. I just want it to be a nice looking working machine.

Sanded and feathered out the flakes and rust on the rear fender/body and rubbed it down with a fine Scotch-Brite pad.

Primed the underside and top. I'm planning to lightly sand the primer today and paint it sometime in the next couple of days.

Sanded and repainted one of the wheels, which had some flaking paint and rust.

Ordered a new wheel bearing, since someone (not me) had damaged the seal on the outer bearing.

While I'm at it, I'm planning to tidy up the grille, bumper, vent screens, foot rests, and tunnel cover. The foot rests have a fair amount of surface rust under the rubber mats.

@Blue Chips  first thing I NOTICED , was the wide seal on that wheel bearing , ? for me thats an instant  , easy removal  clean out and regrease . think the use and abuse  that  these units regularly get , is worth  regularly getting  after . like lucas X HD  green chassis grease , also polyurea rated , stays with it , think that hood hood looks fine , stay at it , pete

I have Lost my Wheelhorse...

I ended up working with Ralph Helm in Elgin, Il to purchase a new Timecutter Zero Turn, the agreement was to pick up my 1993 520H and bring it in to be serviced and looked at, that happened.  I was told they are very busy and could take awhile, no problem.  I wrote u a note about the engine issues and sent that with the delivery guy.  I called back on July 11th to follow up and was told they are still very busy, so I waited...I called this morning and was told they "donated" my Wheelhorse!!!!!!!   WTF is that, so now they are trying to figure out "IF" they can get it back.

I am beyond disappointed with this...
