Did not see a similar thread, so I thought this might be a fun / Humorous thread for some creative input

While completing a recent restoration on a 1961 Suburban ( my first wheel Horse) I got to thinking . . . . I do that occasionally 

People Name their Horses - Do you guys name your Wheel Horse's

 

While admiring my restoration this evening . . . . .  I decided she needed a name, and "PURDY" The Wheel Horse called to me / came to mind.

 

I included  the fished pics and a couple before pictures  . . . . Sort of a Cinderella story for Old "Purdy"

SOOOOOOO . . . . Lets hear what you named YOUR Wheel Horse   and Lets see some pictures        

 

 If you haven't named your HORSE Maybe it is about dam time ya do, OR    if your struggling with a name   post up a few pictures and let the users   help ya Name it

 

 

I would Like to now introduce you to "PURDY" my Wheel Horse . . . .

my 417-8 is "Big Bopper".  One C-175 I have with a re-power is "Mag12" <-- real imagination on that one... lol

 

I might call the other C-175 I have "Lunch" cause it's eaten 2 engines so far...

My 502 is "Put Put" but I thought the decals should be 502-8-8 or 502-8.8 for the 8 hp Kohler and the 8 speed trans and I haven't ever thought to name the C-101.  I guess I'll have to get thinkin.

When my “local circle” buddies see this thread they are gonna chuckle because I have a fettish for naming my tractors. I try to even name some of their new tractors but they just won’t have it! They are gonna wonder why I never thought of making a thread like this...

 

So here goes...

This is dad’s tractor owned since 1975 and we call it the “Iron Horse” pretty self explanatory but it has worn like iron through the decades—now spends its days leisurely loafing around the corral!

 

This is Dad’s plow rig.  I named it Clyde. Short for Clydesdale because they are one of the biggest and most majestic of the draft horses.

 

 

This is my wife’s diesel.  She was under pressure from me to name it something cool like Smokey or Beast but instead she simply chose RED!  Not very original but it gets the job done.

 

 

This is my plow mule.  I named it “GhostRider”.  That is a long story and you’ll have to visit my thread on it if you want to read the whole thing. I was so impressed with its plowing prowess that I wanted to create a dark horse that would haunt the other plow rigs in the fields that weren’t buddies of mine.  “That guy just keeps on coming for us, we can’t shake him”

 

This is my youngest sons tractor Blackbeard. He named it because of the black hood and he was going through a pirate phase when we picked it up.  

 

This is my latest addition to the stable and I’ve named him Vader. I’ve always felt like the grill hood area on these tractors favors either a Samurai helmet of Darth Vader.

This is my son’s newly acquired tractor named “JackRabbit”.  

 

This is a fun thread and I really like your resto @Spokane Dave!!! What a pretty tractor and a fitting name.

I've never named any of mine - always just referred to them by their model instead . I started with an old 1277 and as the herd grew each model was different until I owned a second 1277 - referred to that one as "Les's 1277" from the previous owner . Otherwise , until recently I've only named one - the '74 D180 is called "Big Ugly" - my wife had hit it on the head as she was used to the 1277's elegant looks in comparison . Maybe that's why everything I've ever touched on it has been a fight - the name made the thing mad...lol . It did win a few battles over the pump , but I won the War overall as it's leak-free now .

Just did a quick google search and brushed up on the history of your namesake Robert Maynard and his nemesis Edward Teach.  I think that if you have that feeling of named watercraft you name one of yours  “Pearl” or “Bedford” or if you like irony “Queen Anne’s Revenge”. Unfortunately none of them roll off the tongue like the “Flying Dutchman”.  I like the idea of those watercraft names...

I loved the series Black Sails on Starz. However, I was disappointed with the way they butchered history when they killed Teach. My namesake was never mentioned.

How could they leave Maynard out??? Students of history will clearly see that he was the one who brought down the illustrious Blackbeard. Crazy.  I’ll have to watch that series sometime.   I still say that you could name one of your tractors something associated with sea faring from that vintage...

My 1978 C141 we call it "the baby",  because it is the smallest machine in the herd

 

The 2002 520xi we call it "the beast", because it is.

Ok, thanks to @oldredrider and my twisted mind, both of our black hoods have names.  My c125 is named Coyote because it is just plain coyote ugly, but I love it.  Emory's is Roadrunner because i decided it was a brother to Coyote when I saw it at the auction.  Got a little surprise for Roadrunner that fits its name.  You'll

just have to wait and see!

My honey and I refer to several things around here as Beast or Beastie.

Our dog. Her muscle structure is Incredible ! so the name just works.

 

My Kia SUV. I wish that was realistic but it's not..... 

 

And the  B80 has been referred to as - a beast, the beast, whatever.... BUT ! ... It'll be getting a new identity this winter after painting. I'm going with a red/white/blue theme and custom decals from @Vinylguy  and it will then be a Patriot Horse.

The GT14 is temporarily named "Skittles" self explanatory. My two seater project should be named cobwebs but it has attained the title "Rough Draft" . You'll see why one day.  All the rest of them I call "Come On" as I am turning the key to start.
