It's snowing here today and tomorrow so I'll head out tonight when it's dark and shoot some video.

Replacing a head gasket today on the 603 and modifing the choke.

Hey Dave, your set up is SWEET SWEET SWEET, me, I am still trying to figure a handful of wires out yet. Just can't get this down. Any of you guys would have it done already, but there is plenty of things going on in my background right now having me jump on and off this menial project.maybe in a couple days I will do a night shoot, see how my lights do. Your posts have been very helpful, inspiring me to push Along

Oh, and this wasn't my thread, this was a general snow readiness thread, but it looks like we all ganged up on it and buried it with all of our stuff. I guess it's OK, Terry started it, but the members seem interested, so we fly along.  At least we are all learning things.

Sorry for the next reference, but on WFM there is always the annual Snow/Winter thread that runs throughout that winter season.  It gets a lot of posts on weather conditions, the latest snow storm, what's everyone using for snow removal, etc.  So, this thread could be that type of thread to where it gets updated and gets informative posts on various snow related equipment (Wheel Horse, of course), etc.

I guess if everyone feels it will continue to get updated with snow/winter related posts, including questions and comments on equipment, I could make this into a sticky.  It will become the unofficial, official 2016/2017 snow thread thingy.

Having trouble loading a video. 😒

Time to get my weights on the 523, looks like east central WI is likely to get about 6-8" of the white stuff on Sat-Mon.  I have an operational single stage for "Blackbeard" (my sons GT14).  If I have time, I'll get it ready on Saturday too.

I'd like to play with that a little to see how well it will function but I have to dig up some chains in order to have enough traction. Don't know if I'll get that far but I'm gonna try!  I'll be sure to post pics and video of the clean up process

Guys, be sure to take videos and pictures of your snow removal adventures.  I don't like snow, but I do enjoy seeing those who get snow, how they get rid of it.  Plus, it makes me feel good watching you guys out there in the cold dealing with the white fluffy stuff while I sip my hot coffee and stay nice and warm inside.....:ychain:

Seriously, though, I do like seeing the videos and pics.  We do get some snow here in my part of Missouri, but thankfully not as much as your northern guys do.  Did I mention I don't like snow?

Here you go Glenn and T-Mo. Let's see if this works. Two 24 watt LEDs on front, one 18 watt on the back tied into my reverse switch and a 6 pattern LED strobe on top.

This one gives you a good idea on how bright these LEDs are.

And finally the control switch.

That is a snow beast for sure!  :handgestures-thumbupright: I like how well lit everything is, a must for proper night snow removal.

It is the "wrong color"  b:ychain:but an impressive machine to say the least.  I gotta get a cab setup now!

Dave,

Definitely the way to go if you do have to remove snow.  A snow blower, cab, lights, heat, etc.....nice.

Dave, perfect videos and the tractor light set up WITH defroster. I have to give an A+ on your exam young man. Thanks for sharing, also on your rear back up light, looks identical to my cab front lights, judging by how bright it is in the video I will be a happy camper. Thanks again for the effort.

I might have an extra of chains for your GT14 Josh @PeacemakerJack if you want to shoot over and get them. They are off the quad so not sure if they would fit. Call me first to make sure. They are v-bars and very aggressive tho.

T- MO, I have a cab Light thread going in the electric section, could you duplicate and move a few of these cab Light posts over there to?  You know guys this time of year will be doing the cab Light search, . Lol  we are bouncing back and forth from this one to that one, Dave posted some good stuff. To bad you get to sit in a warm room with your hot coffee while we battle the snowman. :ychain:

Glenn,

Unfortunately I don't think I can duplicate a post.  I can merged them into that thread, but it will remove them from here.  I would do that if the poster(s) agree to it.  I have no problem with moving them over there.

T-MO, don't worry about it then. It was just a suggestion, don't want to rock the boat. The guys will read this and they have been posting over there to. No problem, thanks for the reply. If they want to re post there, they will.

Being faced with an average of 150 inches of snow each year it sure makes removing it much easier and comfortable.

I definitely would be interested in those.  They would be fine on my gravel drive, the more traction the better.  I know Zach would be really excited to move some snow with his Blackbeard fo' sure!

"150 inches of annual snow fall" :-o

we get about 70-75" here and that is a nuisance but the volume you are talking about, you'd better have a great snow removal setup!  I like the rig.

I believe I got dad's path maker,IH CC 1450, ready for when the white stuff actually accumulates more than a dusting in WV, New shoes up front ,150# in the weight box and 2 link chains, and the Kioti for clearing the 1/4 mile long driveway, and I'm believe I'm covered here 1 520 with cab and 2stage 2cd 520 with a single stage and 3rd 520 with plow,Jeff.

We'll guys, I got out and removed the snow we just received from last night and this morning.  There was about 8" overall and it was nearly perfect conditions for blowing. Air temperature was about 30 degrees and the snow was like powder since it was fairly cold when the bulk of it fell. The downside was that i obviously still don't have a cab and I tried to blow with the wind as much as possible but sometimes I didnt have a choice and my body got hammered with snow. I can honestly tell you that the Diesel motor handles that blower with ease. In the video you'll notice that much of the time I'm blowing at about 4mph. When the snow is deeper or wetter, then I have to go slower.  I wish I knew how to add some dramatic soundtrack music to this video and it would really be sweet. I'm definitely an "xi" fan!!!

Caleb did the video action for me and I thank him for that!

Jack, quit teasing me :snooty:, all joking aside, that diesel sounds wicked cool awesome snowblowing vid on that Dxi ,hopefully soon I hear the same :ychain:, but as John @shallowwatersailor says that radiator cooling fan draws a lot of air out of the cab vs the gas powered ones or the classics, so as far as being warmer in a cab he'll have to chime in but yes at least you wouldn't be a riding snowman from all the blow back, and as a tip or 2 to maximize that "chucking" distance 1) I added the rubber paddles to the impeller fan to close up the gap in the drum and 2) I added a solid "stone deflector" in the lower portion of the discharge chute just my :twocents-02cents: that it actually helps considerably ,Jeff.

Jeff--those are some interesting and thoughtful modifications, I'm especially intrigued by the rubber paddle extensions.   This thing already tosses snow about 35-40' but if it could be improved, I'm all for that :handgestures-thumbupright:.

Regarding the cab situation, I could see why the diesel would cause a significant draft.  In the summer it is great to have that air drawn away, but this time of year, a little engine heat would feel good.  I'd love to get my hands on a cab like this from an X series JD...image.jpeg

based on the shape and profile, I think one of these could be adapted to the WH.

image.jpeg

Paint the roof red or silver and no one is the wiser.  The most difficult part would be making sure that the area around the hood would fit or could be filled in to fit.
