Having a hard time justifying $300 to rebuild the spindles and replace pulleys on my deck.  The deck is a (i believe) 05-36MS01 on my 1982 C85. I found these kits on Pat's and was wondering if anyone had tried to adapt them to a deck like mine?  Thanks

300$ seems pretty high is there a reason your replacing all the pulleys? I believe most just replace bearings and blades but i know the pulleys can be damaged when removing them. Been there done. As for adapting the newer style spindles as long as they fit and the depth of the blades are right and you can get the pulley sizes and rpm that the blades would be spinning right go for it

The photo doesn't show it very well but the pulleys are badly corroded.  The deck itself is in pretty good shape, good and solid and all parts there. I haven't taken the spindles apart yet but they seem a little tight so I was hoping the shafts and housings are good and just needing to replace the bearings and seals. Those items plus pulleys, belt and blades were about $300.  Was looking at those spindle kits as a backup plan if mine turn out to be shot. I'm near Richmond, VA.

Looks great JackHorse. Thanks for posting your success! :handgestures-thumbupright:

My Ms. loved the RD deck. She towed a Parker or Jackson, whatever it was, sweeper. Lawns looked great when I pulled in the driveway after wo....wo....WORK.  :ROTF:

So no update on the parts you posted? You used original instead then.

      Hello helpful Wheel Horse enthusiasts!

Maybe you all could help me figure something out. I don't think I am installing the mower deck properly on my 1989 252-H and I don't know if the PTO clutch is adjusted right.

So referencing this image here from the service manual for the mower deck (37"):

What exactly am I doing with this adjustment knob and how does it fit into this piece?

Also for the PTO clutch where am I sticking the feeler gauge exactly and do I need to do all 3 springs? Or does adjusting the one in the manual adjust all three?

      Much obliged for the help!

I took off the drive belt today and brought it to Tractor Supply, measured it there and it was 1/2” x 81”. It’s old and stretched out so I bought an 80”. It went on fine but the tractor isn’t shifting into gear properly. Looking here and on the web, it seems the correct part number is 7473 and the size is 5/8”x82”. Is that correct? Maybe the PO had used the wrong size?

      Hey all!

Replacing the drive belt on my 252-h. Anyone know the torque specification for the center screw when I put this pto clutch back on? I know it was on there tight it took a minute for the impact to break it loose. Thanks!

      Hey all,

This pully blew up on me yesterday. Having a hard time IDing the part # or replacements. the 308-8 schematics I've found don't list this part.  Its the pully in the front that runs from the motor to the mowing deck.

      Thanks in advance!
