Thats a good amount of weight in that bucket. Be terrible hauling it in a wheelbarrow   :handgestures-thumbupright:

Looks like you are enjoying the 310. Would you please post a photo of your weight box, also how much weight is it?   :text-coolphotos:

I love the fact that you have the loader on a 310-8. Its such a great horse sum would opt for a larger higher hp horse but its hard to beat a good running 310

Here you go Richard, it's about 15"x15", maybe 24" deep & I also have some heavy wheel weights bolted up.

The counterweight box bolts up to the back of the sub frame & the drawbar hitch.

They can be filled with whatever to add weight, I put landscape blocks or paver blocks inside....not sure of the weight that I added.

Yeah it all hangs out the back pretty far, but with other FEL/GT's I've had, they don't work as well without a counterweight.

Well in this case....it's what I had.

I'd like to find a C195 W/3PH or a 96 & up 520H with foot control to put it on.

Nice setup! I have always wanted a loader machine....but not the honey-do list that will magically appear at the same time as the loader  .

Mike.........

The older you get the more you`ll appreciate the loader. As a wheelbarrow and for lifting.

I have to echo the sentiment that you can't beat a good running 310-8.if I had a dollar for every ton mine has hauled I think I would be set for life. In almost 30 years it has never let me down.

I agree with ya slammer302.  Gee I guess I never thought of my 310-8 with a loader on it.

I will add, that the right "setup" with a loader tractor makes all the difference.

I had an ARK550 on a D250 & I feel it was a better loader than the Kwik-Way,  but the tractor was so horrible & I believe the pump was to weak that my 310-8/Kwik-Way will work circles around it.

(I've had a few FEL/GT's  really...a few were really beat or used up & one I got from Bob Rock was just to pretty to scratch)

The right HYD pump, good lines, good cylinders, secure mounts & the right amount of counterweight.

Yeah that's all obvious, but if one is off....it turns a loader tractor into a not so useful tool that just sits.

Yes it was.

That one went to live in OH & was used to haul a lot of fill sand.

About a year ago I bought a C-121 auto with the intention of using it as my go-to mower. Shortly thereafter I got a great deal on a low hour 314-8.  It ran perfect and had several attachments - it became my new go-to mower.  So, I decided to repurpose the 121 to be a front end loader. After purchasing the build plans from P.F Engineering (which are excellent), I realized I couldn’t build it for less than $2k in material. I decided to look for a used one and found a Thompson TC10 local to me, mounted on an “end of life” 1077, for $1,000.  The loader swap itself was pretty straight forward. The only modifications needed were drilling a couple of mounting holes in the tractor frame, grinding away a little of the loader top frame so the hood opened/closed and welding in a new hydraulic pump mount. I have a few things to button up still and the bucket itself needs attention but it’s fully functional. I also bought a pair of clamp-on pallet forks.

I also did a “refresh” of the 121. The total project cost is shown below. Roughly $2,300, with just the FEL itself being around $1,300.

      Tractor
      C-121 Auto $500
      Solid engine mounts $50

      Front End Loader
      Johnson 10TC $1,000
      Hydraulic fluid $35
      Spare hydraulic hose $40

      Ignition
      Battery $35
      Battery cables $20
      Points & Condenser $20

      Fuel
      Carb & Gasket $65
Electric fuel pump $60 (later removed)
      Air filter $10
      Fuel filter $15
      Fuel line $10
      Spark plug $5

      Decals and Paint
      Decals $115
      Paint $30

      Lights
      Headlight Lens $45
      LED Headlights $25
      Rear lights $25

      Misc $200

Now that we are finding more uses for the 1990 520H with a KwikWay loader I am experiencing some power loss in the hydro after about a half hour to 45 minutes??????
      Ideas?

Howdy. I recently purchased a non-running 1277 with a Johnson 10 Loader from a fellow RS member. I bought it for the loader - to put on my C121, then I figured I’d just get rid of the 1277. Now I’m wondering if I should try and get it running and leave the loader on it. The motor turns by hand. I’ve tinkered with motors but never much more than the basics. The battery that’s in it is labeled 2017, so it probably was in use then.  What’s the easiest option, swap the loader or try and get it running? What would you do? Thanks!

Newbie here. 310-8 won't start. Battery is dated 10/19. Did crank a couple times but started losing ummph. Should I replace it or attempt to charge it? Can't tell if the battery is frozen. Never knew until today that batteries could freeze and that it's dangerous to charge a frozen battery. It's been single digits with wind chill the last couple weeks here.
