1056 Mower deck belt

Recommended Posts

deere173

I have another belt question, this time on a 1056 tractor with mower deck. I received the tractor with the deck belt tensioning idler bracket resting against the underside of the right-hand steering tie rod. There is no spring, just the belt itself applying tension forcing the bracket against the bottom of the tie rod.  The tie rod is badly worn from the machine being used like this for years.  In the photo, it's the bracket angled downward resting on the floor. Anyone know how this is supposed to be positioned? Are there parts missing ?

I bought a 5xi package yesterday including some attachments I'm not going to need:
4' plow, model # 79355 - in great condition, very minor surface rust on crossmember and back side of blade. $250 48" mower deck with blower and bagger - in good condition, working when removed from tractor yesterday. Previous owner said it never clogged on him. Some surface rust on deck and one 2" hole near the center. $300.
I'm open to offers and interested in trades! I'm looking for a 2-stage snow thrower, p/n 79366. Maybe tools, etc.

Available for pickup--let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Here's a photo of the deck that's included. It's got some rust holes, but functions perfectly. Most of the price here is wrapped up in the blower & bagger:

      Hello helpful Wheel Horse enthusiasts!

Maybe you all could help me figure something out. I don't think I am installing the mower deck properly on my 1989 252-H and I don't know if the PTO clutch is adjusted right.

So referencing this image here from the service manual for the mower deck (37"):

What exactly am I doing with this adjustment knob and how does it fit into this piece?

Also for the PTO clutch where am I sticking the feeler gauge exactly and do I need to do all 3 springs? Or does adjusting the one in the manual adjust all three?

      Much obliged for the help!

Well it looks like I'm out of luck. I have been looking for blades for my Lawn Ranger and having zero luck. I have tried Wheel Horse part numbers 7908, 7909. Toro part numbers 8777, and 53322 and no one has anything like this. I was thinking about doing a cut down, but finding right hand and left hand blades seems to be the problem.
Anyone making blades, constructing blades, got a work around, etc? My blades are usable, but that is about it.
