We just got in our new custom trailer yesterday that we are going to turn into a "Wheel Horse Hauler".  This is going to be the small one, 6'4" x 12' dovetail with gate.  Next spring we'll be doing a larger double axle one.

It's already going to pick up 3 more tractors, 2 blowers, a cab, and other things tomorrow so we don't have time to do it all at once.  We have already painted the hubs and wheels but that's all.

We still have to paint the trailer red and stain the floor Ivory for starters, then the fun begins.  More Wheel Horse logos than you have ever seen.  :)

I have a friend named Scot that has a Computerized plasma cutter so I called him this morning.  He made me the 2 prototypes and had them here by lunch, pics are below.  He is making 1/4" steel or stainless or who knows what yet horse heads and written logos for it.  They will be recessed into the bed and be about 45" wide x 45" long. He is also doing the older italic Wheel Horse written emblem for below the head (pic is below) but it will be the text only, not the horse head.  The smaller ones on here will be on the drop gate facing each other when done with the written logo in between.  There's a lot more but you will see it as it is done.

There is a poll to which horse head logo you guys think will look best.  I had him cut each piece of the logo separate for easy painting and touch up.  Each piece can be painted separately then screwed or Velcro attached into its recess.  They can also be removed for repainting without taping.  I'm gonna use this thing so it will get scratched up I'm sure.

He just left here after making a couple of prototypes and said I could put a  link to his website on here, there is nothing he can not do.  It's all kinda fast but I hope to have him here as soon as next week as a supporter and vendor if the leadership here allows.  Here is what he can do - http://www.phoenixcreativemetal.com/  Look through the gallery and you will be amazed.  :)

If you guys have any ideas for this please let me know!  The  construction will start next week.  :woohoo:

My vote was for the plain style.  Just remember to cant the horse head to the left when you install it :)

I visited his site. Very nice work. Let us know if he goes into production of wheel horse logos. For ease of installation, I'd prefer the head and wheel to be attached some how. just my $.02

Of course they're cool, they're :wh:

I've been working with Scot this morning and I think he is gonna have the head logo done next week. It will be 4'square and made out of 1/4" steel.  I'll get pics up here as soon as it arrives. :)

I just finished editing this logo from a late 50's dealer decal.

Guess it is the old school design?

Thanks Terry.  I have learned today that there are more horse head designs than anyone ever expected.  Gotta loose the OCD.  :laughing-rolling:

Terry, can you make the "old school"  :wh: design in the transparent vinyl that light shines through?

Slip a couple of these over your safety chains .

I've got them on my snowmobile trailer chains .

Keeps them protected & from banging around .

Very nice and thank you.  I will like your post later when I'm allowed to.  :)

The trailer frame will be red, do you think the covers should be red also or black?

IMHO , you could probably make it "too red " .

Personally , I'd leave the frame as it is powder coated from the factory as this will be your best defense against the elements .

The decking , on the other hand , could be Line-X'ed or Rhino-lined in any tint you want  .

This is the original dealer decal I am working on. I meant to post this picture a week ago but was sidetracked for a while.

As you can see the Horse and tire are different than what I have seen from the 60's on up but I really like it for some reason?

The trailer is just painted not powder coated because we knew there was going to be a color change.  I want to keep it as close to a tractor as possible because I think that is what Mr Pond would do.  Red frame, black floor, white wheels, logos on the sides, floor, front toolbox (not built yet) and rear gate.

Maybe it should have a model number too, any ideas for that?

Red trailer would look cool but the tractors would really "POP" sitting on a black one. With everything red they would kinda blend in with the trailer. If you did the trailer black, welded some of those big horse head logos into the side somewhere and painted those red/black , that would look cool. Get a tongue storage box, have it painted red. All kinda things you could do. Ill keep watching as I have the makings of a trailer waiting to be finished.

I’m looking for wheel horse tractors for sale or for parts in the Eastern Nebraska or western Iowa area. Preferably 8 speed manuals. Pm me or comment with what you have. The worst I could say is it’s out of my price or distance range. Edit: engine is not important, it’s going to get a big diesel swap.
      Thanks,
      John

I am selling a 1970 Wheel Horse Electro 12. It is in *working condition*.
It has AG tires and a mid-mount blade from wheel horse.
It also has a front mounted generator that currently doesnt put out power. It has been in the barn quite a while, so it may be a corroded connection,  not sure. Although there's not too much that goes wrong with them.
The tractor has been a great one for me. The last 6ish 7ish years that I've had it where I lived it brought the gravel back up my driveway for me every time it rained. In the last few months, it would run for 20-30min then die.
I was moving at the time so just didn't have the time to look at it. And it seems I still don't. Where I am currently I don't have a place for it. I don't want it setting out and deteriorating. So here we are.
Please contact me by text or email.
      Thanks for looking!

i know that there is ebb and flow with market conditions, but I have been seeing bargain 520 and c-160 prices more common. I recently saw a c-160 like model on a place other than here that was close by, but i did not get a chance to see it as I was still on a medical tether getting care. i say c-i60 like model because it was a series of numbers like 4455 or somesuch .Tractor had the k series engine clearly a sixteen HP and came with a decent looking deck and pusher blade. i called my buddy Jay and told him for the $250 ask , he better hustle after it. i really do not know if he did.
I also have been seeing 520s and such lower than I can remember as well as the D series..My theory is that people experiencing paycheck to paycheck living are increasing in number.
You even are seeing a lot more older trucks like square bodies and especially big blocks than you did before. we used to see this a lot in new trucks when fuel prices hit records.
i am not claiming expert status on this, but it seems to be trending this way one county next to indiana and 90 miles North of the Ohio River.
Tell me what you are seeing out there and what you think.
Edit:  Jay and I ran up to buy Bob Ellison's tractor in MI.  Bob was very nice to deal with and included his "last seat"   I got super lucky buying my first C-160 that did not start and another one shortly dropped in to keep it company. The tractor described above was listed for only two days and was gone
