Commando 6

Recommended Posts

Eric857

Hi,

My Uncle gave me a wheel horse commando 6 (thinking it was an 857), the model that I am restoring for my senior project. He gave it to me for parts but since i dont need anything off of it i am going to sell it and I am not sure what I should ask for it. The machine is in rough shape. It turns over, has compression, is getting fuel, but it doesnt have a spark.

I was thinking of asking $400 but I dont know.

Here she is.

sorry the picture didnt post.

I believe the Commando 6 was only made for one year. (1968). It was powered by a Tecky engine though which made it a little less desirable than the Kohler powered machines of the 60's.

If it is as rough as you say and isn't running, even with straight tins, I think 400 is a bit too much. (IMHO).

The Commando 6 doesn't have the demand that some other models have as far as being a highly sought collectible model... most I've seen trade in the $50-150 range.  If you search back though old posts, I'm sure you'll find several where people said they've bought them mostly around $75-100 in fair shape and running.

Picked up a 1972 Commando 800 w/36” rear discharge. From the grandson of the original owner. Hasn’t run in decades but have no doubt that with some cleaning up of carb, fuel system and check the head, it will run like a Horse.
Has anyone ever seen the steering cap logo like this?

Trying to design and 3D print the front emblem. Below is my model. Any body who want to try out 3D modeling and 3D printing, I’m using Onshape (this file is public so you should be able to find it) and an ender 3 v2 printer.

I just recently bought a commando 8 frame at auction along with a 1054 with a hard cab. I was wondering, what's a commando 8 frame worth? You'd be surprised what I payed for it.
