Wheel Horse Auction

Recommended Posts

FrankinWNY

This is Frank in WNY, I recently lost my wife and I am thinking of starting a new chapter in my life. I have been a Wheel Horse collector and lover since I retired from Moore Business Forms for almost 10 years and will continue owning and enjoying them.

I do have way to many tractors (40+) as this hobbly was a way for me to keep busy and be at home to take care of her needs rather than be away someplace. What I am thinking is to have an auction with many complete tractors in various condition and many many parts and attachments.

A local auction company does a great job of this an also conducts and on-line auction at the same time. I have not looked into this but if my many friends here at Red Sqaure think this would work let me know.

Pics show some of the tractors and pullers available. I do have a 60 Surburban that is 99% complete that's why the topic tag. Also 3 520H, 1 520HC just restored, 2 GT 14, several Chargers and Raiders, etc.. some Cs and Bs one with a diesel conversion.

Frank...sorry for your loss and my prayers with you...that is never easy. An auction is probably the way to go...I am not sure what your time frame is, but I would think in the spring would be a better time. This time of year money can get a little tight.

I'm sorry about your loss Frank, and I hope you keep a couple of horses to play with.

I think I agree with Steve here, an auction would probably get a lot of the stuff gone relatively quickly, as opposed to advertising things individually and having to deal with tire kickers and hagglers. Steve is also right that this time of year is tough for a lot of people - filling the oil tanks for some winter heat wipes me out at this time.

But let people know what you have got - the serious addicts amongst us will bite!

Hi Frank;

I am also saddened to hear of your wife's passing. You may not remember me, but

some 10-12 years ago I purchased from you a plow blade and chains for my 310-8.

We were supposed to meet "halfway", but when you got an early start you decided

to deliver the plow directly to my house. I wasn't there (we were at church), so you

dropped the blade off. My regret was not meeting you in person.

Later you gave me a PTO clutch plate for just the cost of shipping. Had it not been

for your kind words, generosity, and incredible knowledge I may not have enjoyed

the fun and use of garden tractors I have since then. By the way, that 310-8 is still

going strong as my dedicated plow tractor.

Thank you,

Jeff in Enfield/Ithaca NY

Sorry for your loss and it is really tough to loose your life partner. I am in kind of the same boat as I recently had a heart problem and the next month my mother had a stroke. She is doing better now and I'll be bringing her home next week. But I was thinking the same thing about an auction and I am going to hold off until spring if I can. I may try an auction with a few next month though as I have one with a blower and a couple with plows.

Hang in there things will get better. ;-)

Frank, I am sorry for your loss. I would maybe try to sell the tractors on here so they go to good homes. But with an auction things really high or low. I have never been to an auction where the prices were just average.

Very sorry for your loss Frank. I would try a few on cl (it's free and easy) as well as on here. Don't forget that auction fees aren't cheap and unless you have a reserve things can go a lot cheaper than you might want although they can go the other way depending on who is there and how badly more than one person wants an item. As mentioned, I would wait til spring for the auction as well as any tractors with mower decks to put up for sale. Good luck, Irv-not too far from you in Rochester

Husband wants some advice… lol.  So we did an engine swap today on two suburbans because we could not get the one engine to spark all the time to get it running!  The engine ran last year before parking for the winter sleep…. Points were changed out for new the engine was cleaned to make good contact has new spark plug new coil condenser we even switched out the fly wheel today thinking maybe the magnet was weak…. Advice???   It would where are you out yanking on the recoil five or so times and maybe only get the points to fire twice if you’re lucky..  checked the gap and pull again… same thing over and over!  Thanks in advance!

Well my husband got new grownup toys!  Lol. Just wanted to post them on here to share!  Sure most seen for sale but they arrived yesterday at our back door glad we found them before it rained again!  Not sure why delivery person made the effort to go to the back of the house…. 🤔🤯

So I went to get a haircut this morning in the neighboring town of Kingsland.  Saw a few garage sale sign so I though I'd check them out.   The Garage Sales were a bust, but as I drove through the area, I spotted this 1960 Wheel Horse Suburban being used as a mail box post.    It was chained and locked to the T post and the front rims were sunk well into the dirt like it had been there quite a while.  I momentarily though about knockings on the door,  but the hood was cut, there was no motor and the transmission shifter rubber boot was long gone.  I say it's a 1960 as it had the treadplate foot rest.  It's probable best left for the yard art it's currently being used for.
