This is probably the newest song I listen too. Only 25 years old. LoL

Main steam classic rock type of stuff is what we grew up on. First live concert was Lynyrd Skynyrd in June 1977 just a few months before the plane crash and about a month before my 13th birthday. I can't imagine ever letting my grand kids go to something like that at 12-13 years old.

This is what happens when you start f*rtin' around on the Crutchfield website and discover their SpeakerCompare feature, which allows you to listen and switch between several speakers with a cool selection of bands you've never heard of, like these:

We had a real nice conversation going in another thread here last week about the passing of Jeff Beck and his musical contributions over the past 50-plus years.

We lost another great blues guitarist back in December, a guy named Kim Simmonds of Savoy Brown fame.  Kim was the founder and only constant member of the band, and was still performing live until just recently when he became ill.  I had a good friend in college who tried his very best to get me interested in listening to Savoy Brown, but that didn't happen until much later in my life, unfortunately for me.  I did get to see him play finally in 2005, and I'm very glad I did.

For me, some of Savoy Brown's best work was their interpretation of classic blues tunes, and I thought I'd start posting some of my favorites as I go through my collection of their albums.  So here we go, with an old Jimmy Rogers tune (not to be confused with Jimmie Rodgers the country singer from the 1920's, or Jimmie Rodgers the pop singer from the 1950's and 1960's):

A couple more from Savoy Brown, the first a haunting original by Kim Simmonds and vocalist Chris Youlden, and the second a cover of an old John Lee Hooker tune.  Perfect for late-night listening with headphones...
