Thanks for the compliments guys! I like the way it has turned out.

Gene, thats a Gravely muffler. Gravely # 018543, Stens # 105262, or Napa/Primeline # 703679. I'm not sure if I will do a stack or not, it will need to be short to look right, and that would put it right at face level :D . I may just turn it 180 degrees to exit straight down. One thing I love about that muffler is how quiet it is, I have really got to dislike the showerhead type mufflers.

I gave her a reasonable workout yesterday, dragging a dozen loads of brush to the burn pile. Made her earn her keep and even got her a little dirty.

Started wondering if I can sneak a sickle bar under there...

Thanks Mike... I never knew Napa sold so much stuff for lawn and garden... If your looking for a chrome stack mike I have some chrome pipe that is 1-5/8 i.d. if that would work for your stack.

The pictures make it look nicer than it is.

As I said in the November "Tractor of the Month" thread, this one gets used more than any of my other tractors, except for whichever one I'm mowing with.  Pulling a trailer, roller, thatcher, sweeper, aerator etc.  And the fact that I can reach down and pick up sticks etc without leaving the seat.  The little K181 just sips gas.

I built it for my daughter, but she gets a little nervous about the wheelstands when she sidesteps the clutch, so she normally drives one of the bigger hydro tractors these days.  Which suits me just fine  :)

I have a cunning plan slowly hatching in my head for another early ranger, if I ever get round to doing it, it will take the concept out one step further.

Awesome! Be sure to post pics. I like learning from things like this. I have a 753 and the pin that holds the front axle on is broken at the tab on the back side. What did you use for yours? It looks like its new?

The tractors with that style of front axle actually used a bolt through there rather than a pin.  A much better idea than the pin.

Last time I checked a new pin for the later tractors was about $12.  By the time you buy a piece of 3/4" round bar and some flat bar for the tab, and weld it together I bet you spend more than that.

There is some info on fixing nasty bolster pin damage on a later axle here:

Right. Well where can a bolt be found? And do you think it would work on my 753?

They're different sizes, I think the pivot hole in the early axle is 5/8" ?, the later axles were 3/4.  I'm thinking there was a difference in width as well.

Would you advise trying to get another pin or using a bolt? If I should get a pin do you know where I could buy one?

# 6216 is the pin for the later front axles.  Google "Toro 6216".  Looks like they are around $20 now.

I'd go to my local Toro dealer and order it from them.  I would like my local dealer to stay in business.

So.... I just got home with this. I been wanting to fix one up for my 9 yr old nephew. I need to do it in a hurry as I will be going in hospitol soon for my 3rd battle with cancer. You know the story. Was told it ran about a month or so ago. Not running now. I just got home with it so I haven't checked it out yet. Have never owned a Lawn Ranger before, and know nothing about them. Maybe you guys can tell me what I have here and any advice would be helpful as well. Seems to be complete with the exception of the seat. Going to need to pick one up somewhere.

I have what I believe is a 1964 Lawn Ranger.
I'm wondering how rare they are and wondering what it is worth in the original condition it is in now.
May possibly restore it when I catch up on all my other projects.
      Thank you!
