I would like to put a 23hp Kohler command in my C-85 how electronically could I wire it up to run off a key?

So I’d like to put this,

As far as I know the only thing it needs electronically to run the engine separately, is a key switch that at least by part number is the same as the Magnum’s. What else do I need electronically to be able to run it in my C-85? I assume I’d need a small rectifier like the Magnum’s as well, possibly a solenoid. At least this time I have a good idea what it needs but I’m completely new to the Commands. Thanks!

Here ya go, all of your other wiring including safety switches will work just fine.

The solenoid is mounted on your starter and the voltage regulator / rectifier is the same as any magnum, it is probably already mounted near the flywheel fan.

Ok, I’ll give it a look. Once I saw the parts start coming back as also magnum parts I thought this might not be a C-141 level repower.

Another item you may wish to look at - your front wheel bearings & spindles. You just added a fair amount more weight to the steering...

Pay attention to the underside of the spindles where the inner races reside. It is not uncommon to find the shafts well worn due to the inner race(s) spinning  - they should remain stationary. Repair / replace as necessary.

If you find the steering to be too heavy handed after the swap, consider cutting the bottom ends of the axle bosses to make room for a set of 3 pc roller thrust bearings & washers, as I did for @Handy Don on his 312. Makes for one finger steering....

ECH is an EFI engine meaning it needs an ECU and an exhaust oxygen sensor.

If your using it to mow it will need an electric clutch, there is no bearings in the output shaft just sleeves that run on oil pressure similar to an car.

I will say that engine would be a rockstar in a c if done right.

That's an aluminum engine. It weighs less than a Kohler K series big block.

As @ebinmaine was saying the engine is aluminum and around 10 lbs lighter. I’m not too worried about the steering, as even with the k in the c-141 the steering isn’t overly heavy.
