ebinmaine 78,382 #4 Posted Monday at 10:25 PM I'm still not on the books & faces or any other social media platforms. No intention of it. I've been posting a little less too because of warm weather and job situation. I'd be all for THIS site growing. 4

MainelyWheelhorse 2,431 #10 Posted Tuesday at 02:38 AM (edited) Between the weather, family time, and more time at work I haven’t had time to do much with the tractors. Now that it’s getting nice I find myself working on them more. I have noticed an influx of new people coming in and asking questions so that’s a good thing. I have been wanting to do maintenance and fix some annoying things on the tractors so I’ll probably document it when I get to it. AlexR 2,850 #13 Posted Tuesday at 10:04 AM This is way better then FB though. Build threads are retained, information is searchable, and the people in the forum are all great people. There still seems to be some bad apples on quite a few of those groups on FB. That said I will post occasionally on FB. But I am not going anywhere on here, this is the BEST forum on the internet. 1

Nothing scientific was used to make that determination. Was just my opinion on the amount of daily posts. I have no idea about the up/down trend of paid memberships. I do see a lot of groups on FB pertaining to WH. Some are moderated well and others just let ya say whatever’s on your mind…cuss words and all. 5

We can all do our part to make a first time poster want to come back. Using the "welcome" emoji is as easy as it comes, but it is just a start. Asking a question about how they came to own their Wheel Horse invites them back. Giving an open invitation to ask further questions will help too. Many times a first time poster is responding to an already existing post and can get lost in the shuffle, asking them to do an "Introduction" and providing a link https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/forum/47-introductions/ to that topic could make them want to participate more. When a newbie comes along asking for information rather than just directing them to the manuals section if we can take a moment to provide them with a link like @gwest_ca does it will it will be very impressive to the new poster. We don't all have the time to do these things every time but doing them when you can will be helpful. 7 3
Handy Don 16,314 #17 Posted Tuesday at 03:54 PM (edited) Just one guy’s perspective, but I lurked for about a year accumulating knowledge before joining up. I spent a lot of time searching the site and trying to get a feel for who was who while gradually soaking up knowledge. It took me months to realize that ALL of the repartee was well-meaning and friendly teasing grounded in respect and civility--and that much was based on inside humor borne of long-established relationships. I came in with reasonable skepticism after experiencing other forums’ tooth-and-claw exchanges. Folks here simply didn’t bother wasting time grinding axes or putting other folks down to stroke their own egos. It required a re-calibration--a mental shift. All that said, I’ll second @953 nut’s invitation to us all to be as cordial as we can to new visitors/posters. Redsquare is as close as I will get. I've also noticed a drop in new posts and such, but thought it was just me. I think occasional ebbs and flows are inevitable. Not necessarily cause for alarm. I've seen many changes here over the years. There were 30 members when I joined. I've also stepped completely away when life required it as well. I think highs and lows are natural occurrences. That being said, I'm open for whatever changes the admin and mods come up with. I may not always agree with them (like 99%), but they've kept this train on the rails for a very long time. 3 1
AlexR 2,850 #20 Posted 2 hours ago For me personally the reason I haven't been posting as much lately on here, is because I haven't had the time to work much on the tractors. I have used them for a lot of outdoor stuff, and that's part of the reason I haven't had time to work on them. Also have been doing work on our vehicles as well. I'm guessing a lot of people are also busy with spring stuff, so unless they are taking photos of their tractors in use and posting them there will probably be less posts. 15 hours ago, kpinnc said: I think occasional ebbs and flows are inevitable. I agree, for a lot of people I think they also only use this forum when they have a question or are working on their tractors. And I can relate to that, I don't post enough on other peoples threads, it does take a bit of commitment to do that. 2
