Modern appliances??

Trina is looking for a refrigerator.

Full-sized but smaller cubic foot.

Decent quality.

I don't know what features she wants, if any.

What brand names should she focus on, or avoid?

LG is out.

Seems like they are good overall until they need a compressor or other major parts.

Remember the days long ago and far away when we used to try to fix our stuff? Apparently LG has forgotten those days existed......

I think they all have that attitude these days.  These days if it is a compressor failure it is better to eat the loss and get a new one. I do not eleven know if individuls can even buy the refrigerant anymore.

Service companies can. That's the problem with the LG label. The service technicians around Northern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire have even stopped working on them....

@pfrederi  Do you have a water hammer arrestor 1/4'' compression  coming from your cold water source to the inlet of the ice Maker by chance ? That you could add. I am assuming your water line is copper not plastic from source ? Back of fridge is usually plastic tubing nowadays.

All are pretty much junk. Avoid anything fancy.

We had a prehistoric Hotpoint that was as big as a small pick up. Worked great but with our energy audit they gave us a plain as can be LG. Going on 6 years. I had to build a platform for it to raise it up because unless you were 3 feet tall you couldn't see inside! :angry-jumpinganger:

And don't place a magnet on the outside near the magnetic light switch! :eusa-doh::lol:

Nobody works on any of them. After the warranty is over 90% of the time it's cheaper to replace it. A service call to diagnose. Then order the part ( 2 weeks or more) :angry-tappingfoot: Then another service call to install the $300 part. Then another service call to reconnect the plug that fell apart 2 days after the 2nd service call.
