gt14rider 1,054 #1 Posted January 24 Good morning, working on a k181 . My question is what material should I want to buy from mcmaster carr, the stock shim is 15/32 x 3/4 x .005. Closest I can find is 1/2 x 3/4 x .005. Think that would work? If so , 18-8 stainless , carbon steel or spring steel . I can get 10 shims for less than 1 kohler shim. It sounds like you have .019" play without shims, a pair of .006" would give you .007" clearance or use just one .012" or .0125" would give the same and you wouldn't have the thin metal. 1 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
gt14rider 1,054 #12 Posted January 25 @lynnmor just went and remeasure the camshaft end play with out the shim, measured .016 so a .010 shim should do the trick. Well I have to get a shim now, I buggerd up the .005 shim. Ok just ordered .005 and .010 shims, will be here Tuesday. Thay will have to come by dog sled.
