gt14rider 1,044 #1 Posted 3 hours ago Good morning, working on a k181 . My question is what material should I want to buy from mcmaster carr, the stock shim is 15/32 x 3/4 x .005. Closest I can find is 1/2 x 3/4 x .005. Think that would work? If so , 18-8 stainless , carbon steel or spring steel . I can get 10 shims for less than 1 kohler shim. Chaz54 93 #2 Posted 3 hours ago Where are you going to be putting the shim? I’m not sure where you are referring to.
lynnmor 8,428 #3 Posted 3 hours ago If you are adding the .005" shim to an existing shim, it might be better to use one shim that equals the stack you need, or two shims that are thicker than the .005". I would use the spring steel.

gt14rider 1,044 #6 Posted 3 hours ago (edited) @pfrederi@lynnmor What do you think of this one, maybe I'll get .005 and .010 to have on hand . Can get 25 for $10. Kohler shim 8 bucks a pop + shipping. Edited 2 hours ago by gt14rider
Chaz54 93 #7 Posted 3 hours ago The next question is, how much clearance is there should be between these two and how much is there between these two?
gt14rider 1,044 #8 Posted 3 hours ago @Chaz54 spec is .005 - .010. There is about. 014 clearance now, with one .005 shim.
