JCM 10,513 #1 Posted 10 hours ago Looking to stock up on fuel filters for Kohler Magnums 12-20 HP & Onan 20 HP. I prefer a smaller filter which seem to be harder to come by than the larger ones. Does the size matter ? I usually buy at NAPA. Also a clear type filter to visually check flow. Thanks guys
WHX?? 53,887 #2 Posted 10 hours ago I just buy them in bulk since I only have two tractors... The jungle or pick them them up at shows five for 10. If the tank has crud in it I'll use the bigger ones. Onans get a bigger one too. Always something in clear. Prolly more important to change them regular. 2

Bill D 2,515 #6 Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I use a Briggs filter, P/N 691035. It only has 1/4" hose connections and gives a clean look when installed. I buy them in bulk. Edited 1 hour ago by Bill D
Retired Wrencher 6,280 #7 Posted 58 minutes ago (edited) Jim as rule I have been buying the Briggs & Stratton 150 Micron mini filters. There small and easy to fit any where. I buy them in bulk save time and $$$. Not much gets through a 150 Micron filter. Edited 55 minutes ago by Retired Wrencher
squonk 45,114 #8 Posted 41 minutes ago (edited) Careful buying those cheap clear filters at the tables at tractor shows. The media in them has been known to fall apart and ending up in your restored fuel pumps and carbs. Taryl has a good video on the subject Edited 39 minutes ago by squonk 1

I've been using Stens for years and been ok. When those are gone we're switching to Briggs filters. The 691035 are $6.79 each shipped, at billsplaceshop.com 17 minutes ago, Retired Wrencher said: Briggs & Stratton 150 Micron mini filters These offer great protection but are not see through. Also clog more often so remember to change them more often to avoid issues. $7.79 each shipped, at billsplaceshop.com
ebinmaine 76,613 #10 Posted 30 minutes ago @squonk thanks for posting that. Very important information. 8 hours ago, JCM said: What do you consider regular [change interval] With a clean fuel tank that's left completely full or empty you'll get less condensation issues. Burn the NON ethanol like you have been. On a tractor you only use occasionally you could definitely leave the filter several years. On a regular use mower, at least annually. Trailer rider or plow rig maybe every couple years?
sqrlgtr 1,827 #11 Posted 20 minutes ago (edited) I have went to these after a complete fuel system cleaning (carb, tank, new lines and rebuilt/cleaned fuel pump). 70 micron filtration. I like that they are transparent, no media to break down and like the looks of them also, but that's just personal preference.
