I shipped two wheel weights from here in MD to and address in Lebanon PA. via Priority Flat Rate large. I could have driven to the buyer in 1.5 hours. Anyway they ended up going to Honolulu on their way. The weights never made it, but the boxes did. USPS said that the delivery was made. They would not pay my claim. I don't for the life of me understand how they can deny things like that. The *@^#^$&# box is empty. Makes me REALLY HAPPY that I have several good small town post office branches that'll bat FOR THE CONSUMER.

I live in the country. I order online. I do NOT expect anything to get here without compensation to the carrying party whether it's a standard carrier or some dude in a '78 Subaru Brat delivering food. The part is the part. The delivery is a service. I'm a trucker. I'm paid to deliver items. I'm also a Crane Operator. I'm paid to offer a service. I've stopped charging most Redsquare SUPPORTERS for parts unless I have a specific dollar amount needed to replace the part(s) I'm sending out. If it's a light small part, it's light small freight charges. Etc..... 1

That was their proof of delivery. 1

groundhog47 445 #30 Posted December 30, 2025 @ebinmaine well you're right. Still it seems strange how some of these online places can ship free or less costly. Then again they have a lot of automation and robotics and huge hubs. Anyway we'll find a way to try and spread-out good parts economically eventually.
Handy Don 15,755 #31 Posted December 30, 2025 Delivery is a costly service. Full stop. Labor, equipment, back office support...it all adds up. I’ve been trying to wean myself off the immediate gratification model of two-day delivery to my door. In my youth, Mom ordered from Sears, Roebuck by phone and Dad picked it up at the store (15 miles away) a week later. We survived!

Oh yes, and one time I shipped a member a NOS spindle complete. It arrived with a rip and hole in priority box and no shatf. Once I mailed a ball 1/8" diameter and was told it had to go package rate in the envelpoe. It was affixed to a cardboard piece with tape. And you probably guessed rest of story. But weeks later I got a returned damaged empty envelope in a plastic package that had explanation "damaged in sorter". Oh well drifting off topic.
