Many C-175s had the Eaton 1100 which has no tow valve, just move the direction control lever to forward.

Eaton 1100 hydros do not.

Sundstrands do have a valve.

If you can get pics under the right side rear fender we can tell you which is which.

Or- with the brake released (usually just push and release the brake pedal all the way) it will roll easily by hand if it is an Eaton. If not, it's likely a Sundstrand. DO NOT FORCE IT EITHER WAY.

The tractor is for sale 75 miles from home just thought I would ask if anybody knew. Now I'm scared to go look at it. I hate to wreck something by pulling it onto my trailer. I'm sure this picture doesn't help much but this is all I have to go by

If you get a chance at the tractor model number the transmission is in it.

01-17KS01 will have the Sundstrand hydro.

01-17KE01 will have the Eaton hydro.

17 = hp

K = Kohler

Where would the tow valve be on a sandstrand hydro?

The 1980 C-175 had the Sundstrand 90-1173.    The others had the Eaton 1100 that is safe to push

I believe the 90-1173s tow valve was a 7/16 hex head bolt on the left rear of the transmission.  Paul   @pfrederi may know for sure.

Or... lift the Rear with a floor jack to get it on the trailer...

It's a lawn mower for sale 75 miles from home so I'm sure it's in a storage shed out in a yard somewhere from the looks of the picture so using a floor jack but not be the way to go how can I tell if it's a sundstrand or a Eaton by looking at it?

Wooden dollies at Harbor Freight are $12 each, and about the right size for the rear wheels.

If you don't buy it, just return them.

So long as you have a hard surface to roll to the trailer you'll be fine if it is by chance a Sundstrand.

You can easily tell by the filter location. Eaton is on the End. Sunstrand is on the Side. That’s just an easy way to remember.

It's not a C-175, but this is the location of the trans. filter on an Eaton.

@gwest_ca That’s it! It takes a 5/16” wrench, not a 7/16” like @Ed Kennell said. C’mon Ed get it together, you’re off by an 1/8” get it together. You should know better 😜😜

If it is a Sundstrand it would be a 90-1173 as pictured below. The push valve is circled for you.     Now go buy it and remember,   :wwp:

If it is the Sundstrand - that valve can be hard to reach and tight/stiff as all get out (especially with a tiny 5/16 wrench). If it's tight, work it a little at a time, back and forth.  I just ran into this on a C-141. But with a little perseverance, I got it freed up.

On the Eaton 1100 you will hear a slight clicking noise while pushing it, this is normal.
