Nothing matches

Long story short, I accidentally grounded out my ignition switch. It fried two wires which I am replacing, but. I can't find a wiring diagram so I can make sure i don't make a mistake. I've owned this baby since new, and I know the ignition connector has never been messed with, however every digram I find, does not agree with the ignition switch connector wiring. I've got 4 wires to the switch top is red, orange and green(burnt) next two down and black lower left. Doesn't match anything I've found.  71-10k801-3339. Help! and thanks.

:text-welcomeconfetti: to the forum.  Always happy to see another Michigander here.

There are wiring diagrams available here, but to get the right one, we will need to know what model Wheel Horse you are working on.  A serial number will also help determine the year - important because electrical systems changed from year to year.

Good bunch of folks here on the forum.  Collectively, it seems like we've broken and repaired just about everything on a Wheel Horse that can be broken and repaired.

Edit:

Oops, @WHX?? Just beat me to the answer.  He also recognized the year, model number, and serial number you listed quicker than i did.

The switch connector has a unique shape with one wire position say on top with two rows of wires positioned below it. Handy to know what goes to what so one can probe into the rear of the connector without disturbing anything else.

There are 2 diagrams with one using an electric pto.

Sounds like you are viewing the connector from the front. The diagrams are viewed from the rear of the switch.

:WRS:

The green wire that burned comes directly from the battery through the amp meter. I would suggest adding a fuse on the RED wire coming fro the battery to protect the rest of your wiring from any further damage.

Take a close look at the ammeter.  As @953 nut says, the battery power goes through the meter.  The meter is usually held in the dash with a metal 'U' shaped bracket that bolts on to the terminals of the meter.  There are insulating bushings in the mounting holes in the bracket.  If those bushings break down, you can get a short through the bracket to the dash, which is ground

Others have found that the ammeters develop an internal short.
