UNBOUND 73 #1 Posted July 14 From what I have read on the forum, the $15 Ebay 10-2119 are junk. Not going to pay $70 for original. What are ya'll using? Maybe a choke cable from my nearby auto parts store.
pfrederi 18,714 #2 Posted July 14 Choke cables will not lock...When I have a throttle cable that will no longer lock clothes pins to the rescue. one fast idle 2 full throttle
ebinmaine 72,988 #3 Posted July 14 All of Trina's tractors have that wanna-lock cable. We've tried several different types. I/we don't have a favorite yet. PM @76c12091520h Brian Badman. My only other suggestion is to check with Aircraft Spruce Company yo see if they have a locking cable. It'll be $$$ because they sell AIRCRAFT parts. But it'll work. UNBOUND 73 #4 Posted July 14 Stevens Lake Parts has it on Amazon for $14.32, reckon I might get that one.

IMHO that's a waste of $14.32. Buy once, cry once. I wouldn't get the OE Toro either but a cheap cable is ...... cheap.
UNBOUND 73 #6 Posted July 14 Is there an issue with OE Toro besides the price?

UNBOUND 73 #8 Posted July 15 I would still have to buy something because the one on it now is rusted up and its not original either.

UNBOUND 73 #11 Posted July 16 Got the new cable today and of course it doesnt come with the nut. A 9/16-18 jam nut should work fine. Anyone know how long the cable should be on a Lawn Ranger, this one is way too long so will have to shorten it. The one that was on it is about 26 inches long. My experience shows me to stay a little longer than stock. They seem to work better.
UNBOUND 73 #13 Posted July 16 Not sure what stock length is. A photo of one would be great. Dont want it to hang out from under the hood too far.
Handy Don 14,129 #14 Posted July 17 (edited) Thanks for the trip down memory lane, @ebinmaine & @ri702bill! I went digging through my LR images and came up with this one. Hope it helps. Choke upper & throttle lower. IMHO, these were a bit too short and if I’d replaced them I’d have added a an inch or two to each to let them bow outward more. Also note that this was an externally identical replacement engine (HH60) from ’71 or ’72, hence the incorrect muffler. Edited July 17 by Handy Don
UNBOUND 73 #15 Posted July 17 Thats what I was looking for. Got the new one on and working good, At first it was binding so I put a little more angle on my z bend and that took care of the problem.
