TonyToro Jr. 1,937 #53 Posted Monday at 10:07 PM Got a few other things done today. Changed oil and filter, changed hydro oil and hydro filter. Blew out all the cooling fins and pretty much the rest of the tractor. Lubed pretty much everything that moves. Greased, and went through some connectors that were real dirty and cleaned and dielectric greased them.

Handy Don 14,021 #55 Posted Tuesday at 02:25 AM (edited) Ah, um, well...I have really bad news...you NEED friction! Better download and read the Eaton 11 manual about adjusting the linkage for the proper tension. Without friction, you’ll have to hold the lever in position by hand in order to keep moving--let go and it’ll change speed by itself! Yep, you can lube anything else but that cam follower needs to stay dry. Take the cam off and clean it properly and sand the friction washers flat.
TonyToro Jr. 1,937 #58 Posted yesterday at 12:07 AM And today was the big day! Got it running! Way easier than we thought. So on the first day we did fuel lines and tank cleaning. And we didn’t have have fuel from the pump. Ordered one and a carb kit since we thought we had to do both and we put the fuel pump on. Let it prime itself with the line off before the carb and got fuel. Stuck the line on, about 2 seconds of cranking and it fired right up!! Put everything back on and took it for a ride. Hydro is nice and strong, hydraulics work. The only things that don’t work are the headlights and rpm gauge. But no big deal. Tommorow give it a nice degreasing and wash, Order up a WH parts and more hitch and a set of tires and the center cap of the steering wheel. TonyToro Jr. 1,937 #59 Posted yesterday at 12:27 AM 2 questions. Is there any way to make it go a bit faster in reverse? Which is the correct cal for the steering wheel. The toro one or the one with the Wheelhorse logo?

Which is the correct cal for the steering wheel. The toro one or the one with the Wheelhorse logo? Nice going! The Eaton 11 manual has a detailed procedure for adjusting the motion linkage which you should look at carefully to be sure there nothing is bent or misaligned. The design of the cam keeps reverse a bit slower than forward but it should move smartly backward. The tachometer uses a specific wire (usually gray) from the engine, through the 9-pin, to the tach. Check it for solid connections. Headlights use grounding through the hood hinge--often inadequate as a conductor. Many of us have added a separate wire from the headlight housing direct to a ground on the engine. (Also, check your fuses!) TonyToro Jr. 1,937 #63 Posted 12 hours ago Figured something out today! So first degreased and washed the 520. Then tonight decided to figure out why the headlights aren’t working. Quite simple. Got the voltmeter and got 12 volts to both lights. Decided the bulbs are shot. Had a set of LED some Brian and K&B horse parts. Put them in. And found out why the lights weren’t working! They were broken in half! So now we have headlights and put bulbs in the taillights and a set of covers I had laying around on and we got a full set of working lights! Tommorow I’m going to dig into why the engine dies when I engage the PTO. Thinking it’s since I don’t have the seat safety hooked up 🤣 But washed the mower deck too and sharpened the blades. And mounted it back up. But probably won’t stay on for long.

Looks like your front wheels are way off from one another. Might better check to see if those tie rods are the same length... Looks like you'll get alot of service out of that machine. Well done!
