c-series don 9,879 #1 Posted Tuesday at 02:31 AM (edited) About 6 months ago a gentleman contacted me about purchasing this literal barn find C-101. He did so after posting here and many of you fine gentleman said I should be the one for this tractor. It would have been an 8 hour drive one way for me, so after asking for help here on RS @Ed Kennell stepped up and said he would help me. I have to say that if it wasn’t for him I’m not sure this would have happened? So thanks again Ed ! He was kind enough to pick it up, store it in his garage and then bring it to the Big Show for me. This tractor I believe is as close to New Old Stock as you will ever find. The guy I bought it from wasn’t a Wheel Horse guy but knew that it was old and in great condition and he wanted it to go to someone who would take care of it. He actually did find it in a barn he was cleaning out with his coworker who said that it belonged to his grandfather. Upon actually seeing it first hand and then driving it, I was amazed! It really was as described, the nubs on the original tires, paint on the muffler, no belt has ever run in the PTO pulley, original seat with not a crack or scuff on it, the paint is still on the shifters where it hits the shifter plate. I am now super happy to be the proud owner of this timepiece. This also completes my collection of the 1978-79 C Series tractors. I’m sorry that I didn’t take pictures of it as soon as I got it home, but basically it was just dirty and dusty. The rear rims had a little rust on them and I purchased a set of ags with nicely painted rims at the show so I switched them out until I repaint the original ones. Don’t worry, I have a new reflector for the one that is missing. I know one of you would pick up on that!! I did a light power washing, compound and wax, here it is! peter lena 9,206 #13 Posted Tuesday at 12:10 PM @c-series don , excellent job on that recovery ! picture 12 down , often refer to related pto related linkages , note hitch pin clip close to frame ? and related slide pin lower hole on pto outer spindle clip ? add a light extension spring , connecting the two , no more linkage buzzing / noise . in detailing mechanical function / issues , there was always a related buzzing about pto lever set up . have to warn you, that also led me to swapping the related , sloppy trunnion connection for a heim joint , your paint looks , era perfect . pete 2

oldlineman 1,517 #17 Posted Tuesday at 07:09 PM Very nice, I have one that looked like that, all about 46 years ago when I picked mine up at the dealer. Over those years she has mowed, plowed dirt and lots of snow ( in western Pa. ) and payed me back many times over. You can see her in my picture with my daughter which I also acquired that same year . They are both going strong and yet don't look quite the same as in 1979, but I love them both just the same, one a little more. Bob, congrats Don on a great tractor! And thank you ED on the assist. 3

c-series don 9,879 #20 Posted yesterday at 02:30 AM Thanks guys for all your kind words and compliments! @Ed Kennell the reflector fell off while my brother was driving it around at the Big Show. The guy is almost 60 years old and still has ants in his pants, can’t sit still, always on the move! So he bought me two new ones (because he was afraid one new one would not match the original one!) I still have to put them on. @ri702bill I thought about adding headlights, I actually have a NOS headlight bucket and lens. I’m not sure if I’ll do that or leave it factory original? And I probably will use it for some kind of light duty work? Just not sure what? @peter lena As of right now I’m going to leave it as is because there is not one squeak or rattle on the whole tractor, but don’t worry Pete I promise I’ll keep it lubed up wherever it is necessary. Once again I want to thank you guys for all your comments, and also remember it is you people that fuel my addiction for these tractors!! In the fall I’m hoping to get out my collection and recreate these photos, as it’s been seven years since I’ve done it. Since then I’ve acquired 5-6 more! My wife says this is getting a little ridiculous and I kinda agree, but I’ll never tell her that 🤣

I pointed to the horse barns and told him to go back and buy a second one so they are a perfect match, because guys like you and me would lie awake at night thinking about the fact that they don’t match. Truth! 😬 2
