New tires on Heavy Duty rims and spindles

Oh, and with the HD spindles, I was able to use thrust bearings for easier turning (actually I don’t notice any difference, but it has bearings there now).

Those HD spindles look sharp.  Is anyone reproducing them?

That’s a great upgrade!
Agree about the 6” fronts looking lousy on a full size GT

I have a set of AG’s which I am going to paint up now and see how those will look with this.

Looks great.  Are those the HD rims that take the 3/4 x 1/2 x 1 3/4 bearing?  If so these work great for dust caps from the jungle site.

You could go to a 23" and even out the rake difference from the 15s to the 16s up front

Never understood the WH fascination with the 22 when the 23 has been the medium GT standard size forever.  24x12x12 will clear height wise but its close to the tank width wise, spacer clears it all.

Interesting, I checked my other 310-8 (which I had put 8” wheels and tires on a couple years ago) it already had 23’s on the back, guess that’s why I assumed this one had 23’s.

My 416-H books with 23x9.50s but it had 22s on it new..and i worked for the original dealer that sold it. it was the awful Deka tires with the round profile, same style as was on the last 315 classic.

Ill eat those words.  My 416 had 23s on it, just seemed smaller like 22s, hated those tires.

I actually like the Dico R/S tire, but they haven’t made them in 9.50 for years.

Install of the new tires and HD wheels and Spindles is complete.  I bought the 310-8 from @Sparky for my daughter when she gets her house.  Like all 310’s it came with 6” rims which made it look like a little tractor.  I put a wanted ad in and received a response from @grinchsr and @ebinmaine for spindles and rims.  Eric only had a set of HD spindles with rims and was gracious enough to send them down to me.  Taking advantage of the deal @RED-Z06 found on the 8” tires, I was able to complete the new front for the 310-8, looks more proper now I think.

Thank you to all of you for your help with this!  Now I just need the HD hub caps!

Just curious, So does putting bigger tires on the front, change the way the mower cuts?  Wouldn’t that make the front of the deck higher than the rear?

The spindles for the 6” tires are longer than those for the 8”, so when changing the wheels from 6” to 8”, need to change to the 8” spindle to keep the height the same.  RED-Z06 also pointed out that the 310 had 22” rear tires, where the others have 23”.  So in effect, changing the 6” to 8” front wheels and spindles and 22” to 23” tall rear tires it is the same as tractors such as the 416.

About a half inch, but going from a 22 to a 23 rear evens it out

For some reason, the AG’s aren’t doing it for me on this machine so I just ordered up a set of matching Carlisle Turf Saver 23x9.50-12 rear tires, and mount them on the rims the 22’s were on.  Should even out the look a little bit, and be gentler on the lawn.

It's that difference in height that makes the 6" spindles advantageous to me.

They're an inch taller.

That inch doesn't seem like much but it helps with forest floor clearance on our rough terrain.

10.50 turfs will fit those wheels easily with no issues for the mower decks. I ran them on my 310-8 and a 37 SD deck for years.
