Throttle Linkage Bushing?

Work Horse GT1642 with briggs 16Hp opposed twin. There is a rod that connects to the carb and goes down to the governor arm and the little plastic bushing just disintegrated so that arm just pops off and revs the engine crazy fast..Lucky I've been able to shut it off before the boom, LOL.. I was going to take a bushing off a old carb sitting here but I don't see a way to take it out without destroying it.. I then took a small torch and heated / melted a zip tie around it but that just falls off after a few minutes too. I now filled the hole with some 100% silicone door and window caulk and then pushed the rod in and added some more around and on top of the rod.. will see how that holds, but in the meantime I thought I'd ask if anyone has any fix for this type of thing.. Looked up on Jacks small engines and the arm is no longer available so probably best option is figuring out a way to repair the one I have. Hoping the silicone will hold it in place and it sticks to about anything and somewhat flexible.. 

 

Open to hear suggestions for a better option though.

@mowerman1193  got a picture  of that linkage set up ?  love making a linkage  set up better , usually hiding in plane site , pete

It is possible that the bushing is still available. I would do a parts search with the engine number and locate the part name and number. Then hit the search engines. I have located some for my Kohler's this way. Good luck in finding the parts you need.

Briggs had a habit of using a permanent non-replacable bushing, basically they insert a plastic tube in, and a device heats and presses it front and back..deforming it into the final donut shape.  You might try a Kohler bushing, doubt it would function without modification though.

Please post some pictures.   I'm thinking maybe some small Heim joints on each end of a new custom made linkage.

@peter lena  @Bill D  Here is a couple photos. Can't really see this too good now that I put that caulk on it which so far seems to be working to hold it in place. Drove it a mile and a half to my sons house so he could rototill his garden and then today I believe he is going to drive it back to my house. 

 

@Skwerl58 I looked up the parts by the numbers on the engine and looked at the parts breakdown and looks to me like the bushing is not replaceable without buying the whole arm assembly. As Bill said they use some plastic and almost works like a rivet so it's not replaceable. 

 

One photo shows the caulked end and the other end shows what the bushing somewhat looked like.. the back side of the bushing appears to be like smashed over so there really is no way to take one out of another arm. 

 

The Caulk might have to be the permanent fix.. so far it's good but would like to keep an eye out for another arm or a better fix. Worst case is it comes off and blows up.. then I can do the 22HP Predator engine swap or the diesel swap that I've always wanted to do, LOL.. But this motor runs awesome.. Bought this back in 2003 as a parts tractor for my GT1600 with what was thought to be a locked up motor but upon stripping parts I found the starter was all that was locked up.. new starter and it's been my main working tractor ever since.. Best $50 tractor I ever bought.

I pulled up the modek number that would have come in your mower then did a search, found the governor arm and googled the number.  That should fit up.

@mowerman1193  glad you got more reply's  on your issue , another  spot  that , I have found a lot  odd , connections are at my local  true value store , at the pull out drawer  section , all sorts of  clip on movable end connections , also like a hydraulic  oil on cable end as well as on cable slide areas , regularly  improve  original set up , for operational  , movement ease , pete
