Massachusetts is a high taxing State as you well know. Maine is not at all far behind.

They are so stickly up here that if you purchase anything in New Hampshire where they don't have a sales tax, you're supposed to declare it as a "Use Tax" on your income taxes for the State of Maine so they don't lose any of their own State Sales Taxes.

 

I carry a Commercial Driver's License and a nationally recognized crane license along with forklift certifications for two states. What I do not need is any source of tax trouble having any effect on those.

 

If I was to get a business license. No problem. If I was to use it to get materials. No problem.

Not showing any income is obviously not technically illegal, however, that would absolutely be potential red flag for a state level audit. Even the questioning of that occasion is absolutely not worth me doing certain things.

If you buy their tank, and refill it there, you'll never have to have it re-certified.

Give the rockshaft to @wallfish. He can bring it to the show ( If there's room in the van) Then he can give it to @Pullstart. Then he can hook 2 tractors to it and try to pull it apart. Should be some fine entertainment!

In Michigan, if you have a "business " you're filing taxes and annual reports regardless if you make a penny.

 

Small businesses nationwide just dodged a huge bullet when the Feds discontinued enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act Beneficial Ownership Information Reporting requirements...

Thanks for the tag @squonk!  EB if you can get this out, try TWISTING the two parts.  Pipe wrenches and heat.    your quench can even be an old candle or paraffin wax.  It’ll flow into the parts and lube them as well… but not burn off like liquid mediums.

It's not as complicated or scary as people might think it is but this seems a waste of time discussing it anyway.

How about, Are you interested in a 16 HP OHV Teccy engine for one of your C-160s? One just came with a project of which I have zero use for. Condition unknown as of now

It's keyed don't think it's going to twist. Being an auto you should be able to get it into a hydraulic press. Should be able to find one near by.

It's disturbing.  I was quoted a MINIMUM $400 to $600  to get a setup. Forget filling the tanks and filing taxes.

Once it is hooked up and the tractors are digging in someone can begin heating the rock-shaft. We can all buy chances on how long it will take before the chains break while the brown-welded pieces are still firmly joined.

I have a personal account with Arcsource. No taxes, book keeping etc.

My friend worked at the shipyard in Kittery and had to claim his wife's wages as a teacher in MA.on the Maine form.

They lived in MA.! Very convoluted situation.

Same in NY. And, similar to @ebinmaine's point, don’t try to skip a year as it’ll cause an audit for you and probably any person or business filing with your address. 

States have gotten very good at tracking down sales and income taxes they believe are owed.

 

This actually started when states realized that professional athletes from visiting teams were earning serious previously-untaxed coin in their state and/or city and the realization spread quickly. While in charge of payroll software for a large consulting company, I had to build code so that those who traveled could record where they had spent the preponderance of each working day so we could correctly compute the taxes. One oh-so-smart consultant challenged me with “How are they gonna find out if we don’t report it?”.  “Easy”, I replied, “They subpoena everyone’s expense reports and see that the flights, hotels, and meal locations indicate tax liability. Then they tax you and fine you and then they fine the company. And then, probably, I get fired.” “Oh”. he replied.

When I had my auto AC business I did no work 2 qtrs. of every year. So I filed 0 income. Had a local tax pro do my year end filing. Easy.

By someone ripping you off to do it for you. The fee in ME for filing a new LLC is only $175 so the rest of that was for a nice deposit into their business account! It's something you can do yourself and DOES NOT require a lawyer or any other so called "professional".

There are or could be some advantages to forming an LLC depending upon what you're doing or trying to do. If you can bring in $10K a year from a side hustle, I'd recommend doing it. LLC is for Limited Liability Company which is protection of personal assets for liability purposes, should something go wrong. For example: the buyer of a tractor runs over and kills his kid because he's stupid, but then blames you because a safety switch was removed from it and now wants to sue you.

I sprayed penetrating oil in on around it several times over several days. 

This evening I was meandering and pondering and decided to smackify  the right side inward whilst keeping the inner part against the frame. 

 

After about 684 hits it fell out!
