What is it?

Recommended Posts

Guy down the road from me has this out for sale in his front yard.

At first I thought it may have been a ride-away model, then I thought maybe an early Speedex, then I went and looked and found no manufacturer tags, but it has a Wisconsin engine. I don't really want to buy it, I just want to know what it is, but I don't really want to talk to the guy, because they he'll think I want to buy it.

I'd bet @953 nut could shed some light on the ID.

Him, or Kev. I'm a little reluctant to tag @Pullstart because he might come buy it if it is something early WH. And he has that fancy new-to-him trailer too.

@CRF857 also seems to have a wide and varied knowledge of tractordom.

There was someone else who seemed to know early Speedex, but I can't remember the user name. I know he was in TX.

Looks like a Page garden tractor. Or something similar.

Some of the Page were also rear engined.

I wouldn’t mind that one, no matter what it is.

Looking closer, the lift quadrant and handle look like maybe an Economy Country Squire.

But I am still betting on Page.

See I was going to guess Gibson.  Then again, I wouldn’t care as long as it plows right!

Well the only implement I saw on it was that sickle mower.

The Senior and Lever steer came with no implements, but I made what I picked up work :handgestures-thumbupright:

I believe that it is a late '40's, maybe '48 Economy chain steer. Some one has done a modification to the front wheel mounts, the front wheels should fit in between those forks.

No. Jim was a parts guy I worked with on and off over the course of 20 years and multiple dealerships.

But JB Weld was his go-to to the point that at the one shop we started calling it Bailey Weld.

Back to "What is it?

Sure looks like its in the Economy family with the 1" x 2" rectangular tubing frame, and some front axle modifications

Achto types faster than me!

That answers another question. He has another orange unit up there that matches up pretty close to that 10HP Economy in the post you linked to.
