67 Lawn Ranger Mower Deck Blades

Recommended Posts

MSBiker

Well it looks like I'm out of luck. I have been looking for blades for my Lawn Ranger and having zero luck. I have tried Wheel Horse part numbers 7908, 7909. Toro part numbers 8777, and 53322 and no one has anything like this. I was thinking about doing a cut down, but finding right hand and left hand blades seems to be the problem.

Anyone making blades, constructing blades, got a work around, etc? My blades are usable, but that is about it.

8014 is the 36" blade set

5-3322 is the 32" RD gear driven mower deck model available after Lawn Ranger production ended

5-2362 is the last 36" RD gear driven mower deck available

Notice the 32 and 36 in the deck model numbers

Took awhile to get brain cells fired up and sort through parts storage.  Several years ago  WH stopped selling the blades individually.  The pair became Blade Kit 8777  that MAY have been renumbered to toro 53322

I have an LR deck sitting in the “pending” project list. It’s a 32” and the blades still have some life to them.

Last year I picked up via the forum Classifieds an NOS set of 36” blades for the gear deck on the 854 so I’m ready when the current blades reach end of life.

I, too, have spent time looking for other sources of these blades and have found them on eBay and a couple of online parts places. They will be pricey. As @MSBiker notes, the counter-rotating style is not common. After the gear decks, WH stopped making them. JD did make one deck that I know of that used them, but with a very different splined center mount hole.

I bought mower blades last summer for my 654 & RJ decks from Brian @ K&B Wheel Horse. His prices were very reasonable & he ships right away.

I bought a 5xi package yesterday including some attachments I'm not going to need:
4' plow, model # 79355 - in great condition, very minor surface rust on crossmember and back side of blade. $250 48" mower deck with blower and bagger - in good condition, working when removed from tractor yesterday. Previous owner said it never clogged on him. Some surface rust on deck and one 2" hole near the center. $300.
I'm open to offers and interested in trades! I'm looking for a 2-stage snow thrower, p/n 79366. Maybe tools, etc.

Available for pickup--let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Here's a photo of the deck that's included. It's got some rust holes, but functions perfectly. Most of the price here is wrapped up in the blower & bagger:

      Hello gents!
I find myself with a question for the forum before I go down the path of ripping my deck apart in the middle of the season.

I have a 42 inch rear discharge 78350 that seems to have developed a crack at the center spindle (photo attached). At first I thought I had unbalanced blade issue bc the deck will vibrate something fearce. Long story short took it off got everything sharp and freshly greased. Started it up and it had the vibration again that reverberates through the deck. Now it's not as as bad as before but at the wrong angle or first starting it just vibrates loudly. So looked around and found the crack at the center spindle.

Debating if a simple weld would be sufficient for this crack or it would need more extensive repair? I don't weld myself but before I bothered the guy that farms the property thought I would ask here for thoughts if someone has had this issue since I was not seeing something in the forum.

Appreciate your guys help and thoughts.
