What is it

Ok Wheelhorse Wizards!  I found this in my shop this afternoon. I figure some of you will know immediately what it's purpose is but I had to google it.  It shows wear from being carried.  The clues found in the third picture solved the puzzle for me.   Happy New Tax Year!

It’s an old match case or container.

I was thinking something for keeping a piece of char for fire starting, or something for black powder reloading.  I might have one of those in my black powder pouch, come to think of it.

Supposedly water proof so as to keep matches dry.

I had a Boy Scout match holder like that when I was 12, but it's long gone.

You all did good! From what I found on ebay, it's a match holder. It took me a bit to figure that it unscrews and opens up.  The video clip of driving a nail with a Crescent wrench reminds me that one of my wore-out wrenches requires a sharp rap on the lower jaw to jar the knurl so adjustment can be made.
