Disregard.

I found what I needed.

Anybody got a part number for the belt idler SPRING?

Interesting to me how the BBT and I have managed to acquire the ... items... that we have.

As mentioned above I needed a couple springs.

Both the needed springs on this particular tractor were broken and modified by a PO.

The PTO lever return spring had a bulletin from Wheelhorse out back in the day.

Read that. Double check the existing piece. Found that we had THREE of the needed springs in our Parts Department.

The drive belt idler spring was likely the original but was bent on one end, then worn out and broke almost exactly in half.

I read some old threads. Found the part number. Looked for a replacement and found the measurements on Jack's.

One of the used springs I had here was a little bit too long but I clipped and re-curled it.

Seems good.

We got the Cab all out and ready to be considered.

IMG_20231119_121856_HDR.jpg.05eb70bc5964af76f166807b720874ee.jpg

Trina took the tie rods off a 312 that our friend @PWL216 dropped off here a few weeks ago. That tractor won't need them because we have plans for it involving a 520H swept axle, steering etc.

Tomorrow I'll pick up some good black rubber fuel line.

Next on the list is installing that, the wiring, then the sheet metal.

Eric,

I would if I could, but my Work Horse GT-1600 uses a different fuel pump.

Mine has a fuel pump that is mounted to the side of the carb.

When I remove a fuel line I do take pics- usually not enough though-so I wind up doing most of it from memory so I am sure none of my fuel lines are run exactly the way they came off.

Close maybe, but assuredly not factory correct.

Oh that's perfect actually.

The existing line was going in some interesting up n down ways to pass the transmission.

I'm just looking for a rough written description of how it should be.

Eric, I don't have a GT-1600 but the fuel lines on the 310 and the 418 both leave the tank and run over the transmission, through the tunnel between the operator's legs and come out to the left of the engine. When replacing fuel lines I just taped the new hose to the old hose and pulled it through with no problem.

On that top photo, for whatever reason, my eyes went straight to the awesome screen, across the top of the engine to the exhaust pipe, to the back of the muffler, then traveled downwards as I fell into confusion. Then I saw the four feet and came back from confusion.

I need to send you my opposed twin B&S for rework!

Thanks Richard. My concern on this particular one was that the old fuel line made a couple of very interesting W shapes before it got to the engine.

I was down for a visit with @JCM Jim this morning (picking up a couple things that will be in another thread).

I looked at one of his tractors and figured out what was going on with ours.

Got a couple things for this project today.....

IMG_20231120_155533_HDR.jpg.c35e81d7ddab48764cf75b322f770a18.jpg

My small engine repair shop friends tell me I can leave the body of this carb on the intake and clean out the rest by removing the top, only.

.......and did a little shop reorganizing to get the two stage snowblower that'll be on the Workhorse,  in the barn.

Brake band lining reattachment procedures completed.

Clean de-rust sand etc whatever.

We ran it in the electrolysis tank for a bit.

We each took a turn or two scraping and sanding.

Then I used acetone to clean up the metal AND the lining surface so the clear silicone would adhere better.

Ignore the amount of zip ties. I didn't need quite that many.  I was just seeing if they'd set better at different angles.  Yes.

Whoever invented zip ties should get a Nobel Prize. Right up there with cordless drills as far as I'm concerned.

The Workhorse is starting to look like a tractor.

IMG_20231121_164045.jpg.471aaf35d260a0ca5b8ab759f9ef1d28.jpg

I cleaned up the carb and installed all new fuel line.

Carb cleanout was easy enough.

IMG_20231121_125421_HDR.jpg.511a72e3af791a5b416a4a91b3fd437c.jpg

Sometimes my nature of being very particular about things slows me down but I can't / won't change that.

I struggled a fair amount with the (re-) location of the fuel pump.  It was in the way of the air cleaner lid. I knew I would replace all the lines anyway so I pulled the whole thing all apart.

I found a great place to tuck the pump into...

IMG_20231121_153940_HDR.jpg.d9fa7c9a5525452b7cf29431d7ae48c5.jpg

....but I screwed up by  cutting one of the lines too short.

Well I figured out what needed doing and swapped things around. Again.

The new owners will have a primer bulb to use.

If anyone can offer some assistance I need the piece that holds the air cleaner lid ON.

OR..... how to make one.

In other news.....

I'll be wiring tomorrow.

I'll post pics when I can but I have questions.

Non stock system so I can't just follow a schematic diagram.

Do you need a picture of that piece ?

I noticed that carb had the fuel pump integrated into the side like my 16 hp twin Briggs…

Did you have to do anything to “ block off” the old pump ?

If I could get a picture or measurements or both that would be awesome. I'm hoping I can make something out of strap steel and a bolt maybe?

I didn't do this modification. All I did is move the fuel pump away from the air cleaner a little bit when I replaced the fuel lines.

It doesn't look like anything was blocked off on purpose but I can't say for sure.
