So a guy stops in at plow day last year wantin to yak horses. Says he's got a couple. It's cool lots of horsemen around we yak 

So he stops in a couple of days ago and says he's got a GT 14 & asks me if I want it for our favorite 4 letter word... starts with a F. 

I says sure lemme come eyeball it. He's real local and just moved up here from FIB land.

Now a GT14 ain't exactly on the bucket list but the price point was ther. 

I immediately jump on the horn with one of our resident GT14 experts @19richie66 to see what I should be looking for. 

I know nothing about one but the owner say it's a manual. Alrighty then no such thing says Richie. Maybe modded? Owner swears it's a GT14. 

So I go have a look see ... only way to see where the bear crapped in the buckwheat. 

 

I know what it is and it ain't a GT14! 

You guys take a crack at a ID... should be easy for some. 

I brought it to the ranch at @Achto's insistence. 

Wait til you hear why the tranny is out of it... the gut buster of all times.

Looks like a c series with a late 60s hood with a 8 hp Briggs off a 800. And a peerless tranny. So its a custom.

OK enough supence on the tranny.

So I ask the guy why did you take the rear end apart? He says and this is no lie ... he's got a buddy in fib land that had a gear out of his 953 so they was gonna do a tranny swap. 

Now this guy seemed to have a pretty good sense of humor so I chided him on what kind of crack they was on! I apologized for calling him a FIB and said he was just a DIB. 

Here's the tranny ... yep let's fit that in a 953.

IDK Jim. You find an old cow tank, fill it up with oil, drop that baby in there, and let it soak for a month or 2. I bet we can have that thing looking like brand new, or at least operating like brand new.

 

Such an uncommon lawn tractor might be worth a try. We have saved worse, a certain 701 comes to mind.

The thing that is odd Kev is this model was marketed as a mower only ... not a GT but it has  the rear axle attach points for say a front plow. You know the axle brackets but they are built into the tranny mounting plates.
