1975 C160 Automatic Sundstrand gaskets or seal?

Folks I need some parts help and also advice on what (if anything) to do next... 

 

 

I have the gasket and orings circled in blue.  

 

 

 

Zoom in on the nut at topside lower left here:

 

It's also circled in green here:

 

 

I believe that nut/bolt head is seeping some judging by the staining.  

 

I'm also wondering if there are gaskets here:

 

 

 

They don't appear to be leaking but I'm in there.  

 

 

Lastly....

This transmission had some metal chips/filings in the base pool of fluid because of a bad bearing.  

That said, it was driving fine with plenty of pull both forward and reverse.  

 

Is there something else I should be opening up while it's off the tractor ?

The 3 items marked in GREEN are (1)gasket 200191   (2) O-ring 973500 and (3) big O-ring 970132. 

All 3 are identified here in the HYD PUMP Excel SS. 

If you can't find them on-line, I probably have them in my shop.

Regarding the chips/filings.. might not be a bad idea to install a magnetic (drain-)plug somewhere. That way if something lets loose it will most likely end up on the magnet instead of floating around through who knows what.

Also an easy way to check if something might have excessive wear going on when servicing fluids..

Yessir.  

 

The standard Wheel Horse strainer has a magnet on it already.

I'll be installing a magnetic drain plug.

 

I've also considered drilling and tapping for a second drain plug forward of the middle hump because I want to run this tractor for a few hours and change out the fluid again.

I've also considered placing a neodymium magnet... Somewhere...

Several yrs ago I bought a ... kit/package? of 10 small neodymium magnets, bout the size of a pencil eraser -- and geez, how handy those little things are (and I've only go 1 left!!) I've always put one on the drain plug and it still surprises me when I pull one and regardless of how clean the used oil looks, there will be a small pile of ...metal? dust collected on it.

 

I found an old car radio antenna and glued on on the end of it to reach/fish out that nut,bolt,washer, etc out from under the bench.

WH parts and more sells the gaskets and o-rings, the thread I did, GT-14 Hydro Grear Swap, I received a lot of helpful advice from the elders.  There're many links in that thread.   Stop by and grab some hydro parts, there yours if you need them...

Trina has been soaking and cleaning and soaking and cleaning on the cable housing for the rear lift.  

It's pretty well cleaned right out. 

 

She spent some time sanding down the bracket at the front of the seat pan that catches on the latch. 

First thin coat of primer.  

 

Note the circled part where I modified the bracket so the latch... Would.  

 

 

 

I ground the keyway groove a bit but wasn't sure about the straight-osity of the cut so I left it for another day.  

 

 

The gears are set in the transmission housing.  

 

 

 

Somehow or another the internal metal strainer was bent around the outside lip.  

I got that de-bendeded.
