Quick project

This box will accompany the tongue of a camper trailer.  I need to fab the doors, latches and some mounts for the camper.  Of course, I can’t weld on the trailer frame so everything will bolt on.

I’ve got one set of hinges drilled and chamfered for plug welds.

One of my favorite ways to attach two pieces of metal with a wire feed welder. - particularly two parts of different thicknesses. Gives a respectable finish and is a strong bond.

You may wish to clamp it in place and begin welding in the middle first, otherwise the hinge may bend and buckle as it grows from the heat of welding. Think it is wise to seperate the leaves and reinstall the pin after??

running the TIG on this one.  It’s all stainless.  Much cleaner in the end :handgestures-thumbupright:

It’s dark outside and I need some daylight to do planning for the camper side of things.  I need to verify mounting position before welding the doors to the box, need to verify clearance on a few things, etc.  It’s good to have the TIG machine back up and going.  I borrowed the plug from it for another something at some point so I grabbed another from the store and started laying beads.

Good consistant welds, localized heat and no burn thrus. Hands, eyes, and foot co-ordination required.

Ya could do that for a living if that farmin' thing don't work out....

The customer came over yesterday and we did a dry fit up.  It’s gonna work out better than expected!  I need a couple tabs cut for the latches and it should finish up just sweet.
