Sometimes things just fall into place..

 

I've joked around with the fella we all know as @wallfish a few times over the last 5 years that if he ever needed a new home and steward for this incredible piece of machinery... Well... We'd be happy to take it in.

Back in late July, John and I along with Trina of course, started blabbing back n forth about the possibility of she n I becoming the VERY appreciative new owners of a 1986 ish 416-8 with a FEL and Backhoe. 

 

Mr Wallfish wanted the machine to go to a new home that would both USE  it and be able to repair and maintain it. 

 

Well I think we all know the BBT Trina person would absolutely love to put this beast to great use.  

 

 

 

 

Here it is being delivered to our house. 

 

 

 

 

Covered up and peaking out. 

 

 

 

I changed the hydraulic filter and bled the system.  

 

I've ordered a new tank cap/fuel gauge. We'll remove the tank and clean it out. 

 

Today we changed the temporary fuel line and added a primer bulb. 

Also changed the spark plug.  

 

 

We moved it to the place it'll stay for a few weeks while the new pole barn is built.  

 

 

Can anyone identify the loader?

I have always enjoyed when John would drive this through the parade at the Annual Wheel Horse Show and really put on a show with the bucket and backhoe! And I think everyone else loved it too!

Little to no wind where it sets.

Down below tall trees. Beside the big rock wall. 

It's also in the down position.

This was without a doubt a difficult decision to sell it. This was my first Wheel Horse tractor and the amount of time and effort put into building that hoe. Plus it's got to be in the top 5 of the coolest Wheel Horse work tractors around. Money had nothing to do with it but it was more seeing it just sit there idle, rarely used any more. This tractor was built to work so it was like having Secretariat waiting here in the stable but only being used for pony rides. Just didn't make sense. I wanted it to go to someone that would appreciate it for what it is and most importantly USE it because of the need for such a tractor. EB and Trina were the perfect fit for something like this so I wrote the message to contact them about it since Jim's M&G up in Maine was coming up. I could get it most of the way there and show if off for one last time too. I had some sellers remorse before delivery but seeing their faces and Trina hoping up on there and digging a hole set my mind at ease. I'm definitely happy about it now with no remorse and look forward to the new escapades and life of that tractor.

 

I spent 2 full summers building the hoe. No real workshop at the time as we recently moved here. Just a shelter logic tent for my tools with a radial arm saw as a work bench. EB has that too. So it was basically built out on the ground. LOTS of measuring, cutting, drilling, grinding and welding all in my spare time after working all day. The neighbors never said anything but surely they didn't appreciate all the noise every night until it got too dark to work.

I've seen this machine on the PF engineering website long before I even knew Wheel Horse was a proper garden tractor. Funny to now 'know' the builder of it @wallfish.

I too have the PF engineering plans laying around but have'nt gotten around to 'translating' them to metric..

 

And @ebinmaine thanks for clearing up the BBT mystery. Giggle told me the meaning of SWMBO but could'nt find what in the world BBT was supposed to mean

A bit more than substituting a M8 bolt for a 5/16 !!

Had the interresting opportunity to work assembling an "Americanized" version of a Japanese designed and manufactured punch press elevator storage device. A local Engineering firm did the conversion of the paper prints to use fracrional steel, purchased items, and fasteners - where I worked, we had the large machine tools to fabricate the parts and the floor space for assembly. Overall, it went well, but did have some quirky issues ,,,,

Funny you should mention that. While visting the oldtimershow in Germany last week I could understand perfectly what the locals were talking about in plat-Deutsch.. while on the other hand I cannot understand some of my (former-)colleagues from Limburg (same country, different province).

 

That being said, in 'my' province there are also several regional dialects. Less prominent than between provinces but still enough to make fun of eachother from time to time.

Yup - same here - Eric and i live less than 300 miles apart - local phrasing is different -we say "yes" Mainers say "ayuh"

I don't very often say the word yes with only three letters. I might say yessir or yep.

Order an American tape measure! LoL

Most of the measurements can be adjusted. The important measurements are the hydraulic cylinder mounts because you do not want anything to end mechanically before the ram stops. Of coarse if you have metric cylinders then the measurements would have to adjust anyway.
