    1990 **Rare** 520-8

I have this 520-8 that needs some love and restoration expertise, and I don't have the time or gumption to take on this project and give it the TLC it deserves. Local pickup near Bloomington, IN only.... (almost - I might be able to meet somewhere but not too far, and I don't have a trailer.) The Onan P220 runs, but not well. I repaired the seal on the intake manifold, replaced the carb & spark plugs, adjusted valve clearance, and tried adjusting the governor, but it still surges. It has the swept front axle but does not have reduction steering. As far as I know, all is original, and the hour meter is at 610. Several attachments could be included in the deal if desired, for a bit extra. Either a 60" SD or 48" SD deck, single stage snowblower, and/or snow plow blade (would need to get extension kit for front wheel clearance).
  2. I have had and seen couple of 8 speeds with bent, scraped any broken dipsticks. The broken ones look like they got cut off. What are they hitting inside the tranny and how do I prevent it? Thanks. Bill
  3. Ok, so I've found out just where the oil is leaving the transmission on my C120 8 speed from around 1974. Removed the brake "drum" and discovered a thin ring around the axle, is this part of the seal and can this be replaced without tearing the whole transmission? I found several posts & youtube videos about replacing axle seals, but none about the brake axle seal... Since this is the lowest axle, the oil-level is to low to determine if axle seals are bad too... I'm uncertain of what transmission I've got so trying to find the manual for it has been hard, someone who can help? Yanking the axel I can just about feel a play, is this OK, or should I replace the bearing too?
  4. This winter while plowing my C125 stop like something in the transmission was binding. It happened 3 times but otherwise worked just fine. So today I thought I'ld better check it out. After removing the right case half I got to look inside. A BOLT? How did a bolt get in there? All 4 bolts were in the diff. Well, 3½ bolts! One diff bolt is broken and the other 3 are loose. And the diff housing is chipped. There is a little more damage done ... this gear has chipped teeth. Might have been where the bolt got to it. And this long gear has 3 worn teeth! Why? And how did this spacer loose a piece? Well, now it's time to hunt for a few parts. A friend has a parts transmission that might help me out.
  5. I couple years ago I bought a C-100 for parts. So this year I decided to re-acquire all the parts I put on the first c-100 and make a Frankenstein c-100. Anyway- before I started anything, I tested out the tranny running it off the PTO from the other tractor. Everything looked fine - all gears worked, pretty smooth shifting. So, I go to put it all back together and find that the left to right travel on the Hi-Lo shifter is much too long once it's installed. Trying to shift into high or low is now restricted by the width of the tunnel, not to mention when the shift pattern plate is installed. Before I go crackin' this thing open, is there any adjustment that can be made externally? What might cause this - and am I doomed to putting a fork in it? Thanks in advance, Pete
