We got a plow on its own mount with the backhoe.  I've considered using that mount for forks.

We've been slowly putting the big new building to good use more n more. 

 

Trina and her mom have been splitting wood from next year's stock and stacking it under the near shed roof on a rack we made.

Noting the picture above, we've been finding that the snow falling off the roof to the sides is VERY time consuming to move. 

 

Original thought was to build 2 firewood stacks side by side in that location.  

 

 

We've decided to leave the pathway open that Trina was using to load the wood pile. 

 

 

Here's a picture of 1/31/23 after nearly 30" of snow and some sleet/rain has been unloading itself from the building over the last couple weeks.  

 

 

 

Very minimal effort has been required to keep the path open.

General design and shape was put together by the basic desires and practicality of Trina and I together. She came up with the color scheme with the four different tones.

As you can see we've been slowly putting it to use more and more.

Made another step toward utilizing the Big building.  

 

Most of the electric circuits from the shed are being moved to the barn.  

This evening we cut the power and dismantled what's being moved.

The shed will end up with 2, 120V circuits. 

 

The barn, everything else.  

 

At minimum:

3, 220V with different shaped plugs. 

A dozen or more 120V plugs. 

4 will be upstairs for the Dojo.

Shouldn’t the white wire on the right side that’s going to the double pole breaker be wrapped in black electrical tape to signify that it is a live leg/ energized ?…

We've been ridiculously busy here this weekend.

Electrician was here yesterday.

Barn wiring is well  started. 
He'll call the State Electric permit office tomorrow.  
They'll either send someone to inspect the work  or tell him to call Central Maine Power Company directly.  

Once approved the wire can be run from the pole and connected. 

After the power is in... Could be several weeks... We'll have our electrician add a few more circuits.

Because of the new electric wire to be installed, we needed to clear a few trees out.  

 

Today we felled and cut up 1 large grey birch, 1 medium grey birch, 2 smaller beeches, and some brush.  

 

Here's the smaller grey birch before n after.

We used a hand winch to PULL the smaller grey birch tree. Put a pretty wicked tension on it.  

It was undoubtedly headed towards the barn. 

We could have left it as far as the power lines but it was a tall thin soft tree that leans HARD during ice and heavy snow.  

At one point last winter it was touching the barn building.  

Had to go. 

 

 

Here's the before n after of the larger grey birch.  

 

 

 

 

We tied off with the chains here as well because although it was leaning ok to the left of the barn a half decent breeze or unseen interior  twist in the tree would have been disastrous.  

 

 

It's all cut and stacked so it'll dry a bit before splitting.

I've been looking at the trees as they filled in with leaves over the last couple weeks. 

Been realizing that even after we took the ones down last weekend.. there's still a fair amount there. 

So today I took the afternoon off from work to open up the access a little more.  

 

 

Red circle is the transformer. Below the blue line is what I opened up by trimming everything I could reach from an 8' stepladder.  

 

 

 

I was barely done and WOW here comes 2 Line Crews to connect the wire!!

In particular I'm very much looking forward to setting up a dedicated metal working bench and having the ability to weld INDOORS year round.

We had the electrician here this past Saturday to connect the two circuits left in the shed and add several more to the barn. 

 

We now have a 20A 220V circuit over on the far outside of the building for where the air compressor is going to set.  

Another 20A 220 just inside the main small door. 

One more 220V for the stick welder.  That's a 50 amp. 

There's a 20A 120V at the metal building table as well.  

 

 

The upstairs and downstairs light circuits are complete. 

We have switches by the forward small door. One plug in the middle of the ceiling upstairs. Two plugs downstairs. About 3 ft in from each side.

The plan is to run strings of LED lights off of those plugs.

 

We also added an outdoor 120V circuit to the near side of the building under the shed roof for where the chop saw lives. Also a set of 20A 120V  just inside the main door with a couple extra feeds off that so there's 6 plugs within a few feet inside the barn between the two small doors. All those are for things like my and saw, table saw, drill press, etc.... 

 

That'll be it til we make a decision on climate control for both floors.

We finally got lights!!

 

 

 

These are temporary for the first floor...

When I get a set of 8 foot LED lights all these 4 footers will just go right upstairs.

Minutely. 

I'd put it on hold completely for about a year while the barn was being built.  

 

I believe I have all the parts to rebuild the rear axle now.  

Just a matter of prioritizing time to remove the bed and rear gas tank. (Both are staying off.) Then get back into the axle ...
