Ok now who puts the spring and keeper back on to check? Or just hold down tight on the valve top?

I hold it down or put a 5 lb. slab weight on it when checking. Putting the keepers on is for guys who haven't lost their sanity yet. :)

I use the belt. V block wouldn't work.

Why not the table and wheel?  Too 'jiggly' ?

Easier to change belts and grit than dealing with glue on the wheel

That glue was always a pain. I have never tried this. might make the sandpaper too cushiony. :confusion-shrug:

A manufacturer cannot produce a valve in spec for your motor. All motors have worn differently. Tappets, rocker arms, valve seats, cams, and whatever. My:twocents-02cents:

So what makes a Standard valve a standard valve for a certain engine?

To be honest, I don't know what an un-standard valve is. Don't think I have seen "standard" or "un-standard", just valves.  Motor builders can probably tell you more.

I’m not sure exactly what you mean but it’s what the manufacturer spec.

What model Kohler are you working on.? I’ll get you the Kohler spec.

Tecumsehs could be had with different size valve stems that you could use after you reamed the valve guides

Yes that’s true. I thought he was working on a Kohler.

With that in mind, furnish the make and model and spec number of the engine.
