Woodworking folks. What might this be?

Any thoughts on what this thing may have been used for, or being built for?

A jig for repetitive drilling?

The faded color difference on the base, along with some holes, shows that there was another part attached at one time. Your guess is as good as mine.

if I'm seeing what is on the bottom ---a handle--It might be a jig for pushing work through a table saw---

:text-offtopic: Good book. I use to read everything he wrote. Except the Dark Tower series. Never could get into that.650486359_stephenking(2).jpg.0da188448dd949a3e4606a8a644bad93.jpg

Never read any of his books but I've watched a movie or three over the years. I don't get into the scary stuff but the mind twist thing is fun sometimes.

I've never met Mr King in person. I have met his wife. Very nice woman.

I’m guessing there’s more too.

Not unless there is a rail on the bottom to guide it straight.:confusion-shrug:

I thought of that earlier as well but it could be riding on the fence

If you are using the fence, you have a guide. :confusion-shrug:

Yes but not for the angle.

The fellow that built this was famous for doing things seven ways from Sunday trying out different experiments.

No way to know what this really was...

With the exception of hearing it from the individual who made it we may never figure out it’s precise function. It’s lack of precision ,guides , or any another evidence of reference guiding points does not make me believe that it was some sort of “cradle” to cut something in a machine such as a table saw. It’s look sort of impromptu  makes it more likely it was a “jig” improvised to hold something in a certain position so it could be worked on. The bottom piece would allow it to be clamped to a bench , while the angled block would hold piece in the right orientation. Screwed on stop would hold piece from moving even allowing it to be clamped to it.

To me it looks like a quick and dirty locating jig. The holes in the base seem to point to locating pins, probably clamped down as @formariz said. The ~3/4"x3/4" block looks like it might be a secondary locating brace.

Nice mystery piece. Let us know if you figure it out.
