Still why wouldn't someone buy from a brick & mortar with guys turning wrenches out back? In general, the current crop of homeowners will total any kind of outdoor power equipment in short order. They don't care and will simply replace their junk with new junk at the drop of a hat. 1
Handy Don 17,127 #152 Posted July 24 (edited) Makers follow sales. Sell a Wheel Horse and maybe have maintenance and a couple of implement sales for the next 40 years for a modest profit with overhead for spare parts. Sell a minimally-built mower and sell another one every five years at a decent margin every time and not have any responsibility for maintainiing a spare parts inventory or the one-time use of resources, to boot. Business 102 (Business 101 covers how to calculate profit and loss). Edited July 24 by Handy Don

953 nut 67,990 #154 Posted July 24 That is why Dollar General is one of the fastest-growing retailers in the United States, driven by aggressive store expansion, high consumable sales, and a surge in budget-conscious shoppers. The discount chain operates over 20,000 stores across 48 states. People will buy lower quality products thinking they are getting a good buy when in reality the price per pound (square foot or any other unit) is higher than others charge. 2

I'm always looking for skis to make benches... bike ride this morning and my favorite four letter "F" word was attached to these on a neighbor's lawn: They will become a bench shortly... Timing is perfect... I just sold two ski benches and a ski end table...! Just noticed I'm wearing another @Pullstart plow day shirt... honest, I do have other clothes... 1
