Pullstart 67,020 #7 Posted September 28, 2021 Not sure if I knew there was such a model… or if I did had no idea it was rare! Nice find, and thanks for the info Lane!
953 nut 60,301 #8 Posted September 28, 2021 Nice find Seems there was a story that the factory ran low on engines because of a strike at Kohler so they used Tecumseh engines to keep the production line going. Gave them a new number to keep things straight.

Gave them a new number to keep things straight. Similar to the 1974 c160 and 1974, 75 c120. In that case they kept the series number the same but they did give them a different model number to show that they had the Tecumseh engine instead of the Kohler engine. I didn't know they had done that back in the mid-60s as well.
Racinbob 11,983 #10 Posted September 28, 2021 (edited) 754's didn't have Teckys. It looks to me like they had some 7hp electric start Kohlers left over from 1963 and installed them on what would have been 854's. Their "cleanup sale" was more like 'We need to get these 7hp electrics off the shelf'". Edited September 28, 2021 by Racinbob 2

Darrenw85 666 #16 Posted September 28, 2021 (edited) I own Serial No. 47956. This had been repainted at some point before I bought the tractor. Included is a picture of the serial number before restoration. The frame, axle, wheels, etc. were powdered coated and the hood and other tins were painted. The lettering on the hood was hand painted by a pinstriper. Edited September 28, 2021 by Darrenw85 Updated description. 2

Lane Ranger 11,434 #19 Posted September 29, 2021 (edited) I think the Tecumseh in photo was to be replacement motor for the 5.5 Tecumseh on the other tractor , a 552 Wheel Horse. I know the 754 had a 7 hp K 161 Kohler o it as originally outfitted by Wheel Horse. Edited September 29, 2021 by Lane Ranger
WheelHorse520H 708 #20 Posted September 29, 2021 Cool find @Lane Ranger. Nice paperwork and info @Racinbob. That’s cool how they took parts from two machines to make one to sell.

No sense wasting the parts that you have on hand. I'd be curious to know how many times they did that over the years.

I would do the same. Yeah I am interested too, how many models did they make that they sold just because they had the parts?
