Kohler Magnum 10 oil filler tube

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know where I can get a oil filler tube assembly for the Kohler Magnum 10? Or a workable replacement with the same bolt pattern?

I just inherited a Wheel Horse with a Magnum 10 engine, however, the oil filler tube is cracked at the base. The part is no longer offered and I cannot find a used one. Does anyone know where I might find one? Or any work-around?

BTW, I am assuming this is a 1985 tractor, but can't find the VIN anywhere (the manual says it should be on the fender). Any suggestions on where to look for the VIN?

Model number should be on a sticker under the seat on the fender pan but they often get painted over or plain MIA.

1987 models were the first to use the M10 engine.

Post all the numbers off the engine decal including the serial number. Tractor model can sometimes be identified using them.

The engine decal states:

Kohler Magnum 10

    Horsepower: 10 hp
    Model: M10S
    Spec: 461521
    Serial: 1805608053

The spec number narrows it down to 2 model years

1987 310-8 model 21-10K804 - Using M10S-461521

1988 310-8 model 21-10K805 - Using M10S-461521

and the 1805608053 serial number was made in 1988

so the tractor is a 1988 310-8 model 21-10K805

2 pages of info on the model

      Hey RS Community,

I have an engine question for you. Looking at purchasing a WH 416 Hydro, Kohler engine. The guy selling it doesn't know the year or how many hours on the machine. The guy is telling me that there is too much compression on the rebuilt motor. It turns over once but won't start. Its fairly cheap and comes with a plow. Any ideas on how to fix this? I am not very mechanically inclined so I don't want to get over my head here. Suggestions?
