Inverter 12volt DC / 120 AC

Don't be so quick to discard your inverter if it should stop working, they're fused protected but it takes a bit of work getting at them. Some are soldered to the board while others are plug n play.

 

Remove one end of the inverter, a couple of screws from the side of the case which also acts as the heat sink then the board slides out. What I'm looking for is blown fuses and bulging capacitors.

Fortunately the fuses can be tested for continuity while in place the manufacture has proved access to the pins.

 

A pair of 30 amp fuses located between the transformers.

Top  board is from a smaller 300 watt inverter, bottom image 700 watt, obviously hand soldered and its unlikely they would have been that generous with the more expensive lead free. Tin based solders dissolve in hydrochloric acid but have no need to know.
