they don’t seem to be like cats that always land on their feet.

I can attest to that!  One day I was filling the feeders and skeert the livin' you know what outta me when a squirrel landed on the ground flat on it's back maybe 3 feet away from where I was standing.  Apparently he was jumping from tree to tree above me and missed his landing branch.  He fell about thirty feet.  For a second he just stared up at me like " WTH just happened ? " then righted himself and took off like a squirrel outta hell.

I can't imagine what might have happened had he actually landed ON me.

The beach house had an active martin house.    Sorry I didn't get pics., but we saw bald eagle, osprey, herons, gulls, pipers, fly catchers, one oyster cracker, and many common birds.

One day last summer hear a "BOOOM" and lights out.  On the ground near the transformer that feeds our street was a skinned, partially cooked squirrel.  He must have gotten across the 13kV that feeds the transformer.

We have a decent assortment of turkeys around but rarely get this close.

Weird morning at the Tweety Bird Ranch. Woke up and this Woodpecker, Dove and Finch ( cannot see on 3rd feeder) were having a stand off. Not moving not eating not even turning their heads. After about 7 minutes of this  Wife decided enough was enough and scared them off

Watching this pair of Swallows for a week.  They both work all day to feed the two chicks in the box.  They take 30 to 90 second flights over the sweet corn field collecting insects that I believe are small black gnats.  Then transfer the bugs through the hole to the chicks.

OK, I need help to ID this pair.   They showed up this evening while I was painting the bird bath bowl.102_3355.JPG.d913a41c93d182af71b8a9caa9b3a53a.JPG102_3354.JPG.6902995475cf380c4ce75ef518e37914.JPG

They are about the size of a Starling.

Red-winged black birds are very common here, I'm kinda surprised that you don't have them where you are. They're a biggie around corn fields.

All the ones we have here have the orange and white.

They inhabit fields that have water nearby.

We had a red-shouldered hawk sitting in a tree aways from the house this morning. If you look at the picture above that seems NOT magnified that's actually at 8X with my phone.

The others are with the camera that was given to Trina by @WHX??

Our Bluebirds were ready to fledge so when the nesting box went quiet we wanted to confirm the happy event. All five where gone but it was an escape with mother blue giving her life in a HOSP attack. Searching our backyard we found all five survived but with one parent, all may not get fed. But this won't be, because we trained daddy blue to come for our mealworms. One day the chicks would leave our backyard to explore their world. Before they do, they will leave us good memories of watching them learn to eat at the sound of our chimes.

The little guys were busy this AM.

Little needle nose sucked up some sweet juice.
