Mule drive weight box

Recommended Posts

OldWorkHorse

I'm looking for a few answers if any1 could help. I'm looking to build a home made weight box for the front of my 314 and I plan to use the shell of a mule drive for the attach a matic quick connect. I'm just curious how much weight 1 of them would be able to handle. I attach my snowblower to it and I can't see my weight box getting anywhere close to the weight of that thing. I'm guessing my box 80lbs to 100lbs max.

I don't think that 80 or 100 lb would be a problem for a front tach magic to support.

I weigh better than twice that and would not worry about stepping up on the mule drive on my tractor.

I tore this ammo box off of my trailer. It's quite heavy on it's own. I wonder if it would make a good  front weight box?

I use two 44 lb weights on my mule weight bracket on my 414-8. I could not believe the difference the weight made when using the front blade and rear accessories.

Bolts. I'm lucky I can even lift the lid on this box!   I'm going to kind of test fit it today. I was going to scrap it!

I've got some 1/2" and 3/8" plate scraps you can clean up and use.

We can fire up the beast welder and melt metal together.

You can attach gym weight plates in as I have for  the front of my machine to use whenever it stop raining here. It is simply a mule drive with 1" bolt in the middle .

I've made this for the Black Horse. Can't remember the weight, but I can't throw it around.

Just something to think about. Don't forget you may need to open the bonnet/hood. :handgestures-thumbup:

Over this side of the pond, “ALDI” the supermarket has them in at times. Cast iron, all different weights, I used the 10Kg ones as wheel weights, cost, a pound, (£1.00p) a Kg. The 10Kg ones fit nice and tight inside the Wheelhorse rear rims, I drilled 1/2” holes in them for mounting bolts. No reason why they couldn’t be used on the front, or rear, of a tractor as well.

That was mainly for your benefit, mIKe!  Also that ammo box is rather tall if you hadn't noticed. :teasing-neener:

Box is 18" high. It will clear the 953 headlights and the bonnet doesn't open towards the front! :banana-jumprope:

They are good for quite a bit. I have a bunch of concrete on a extended shaft on mine and haven't had any problems. That's probably 120-130lbs actual weight. Even more force than that with the shaft acting like a lever.
