I'm stumped. I just opened the transmission. I spun the gears. Everything seems to be working. The hi/lo shifted. No broken pieces in the bottom anywhere. Before I pull the guts out is there something else I should be looking for?

@stevasaurus

Mike is there any cracks or excessive play in the forks?

I just pulled everything  out. The broken tang was stuck to the case in the new gear oil. Before I pulled the guts I turned everthing again and noticed it was shifting into low and gravity was the only thing shifting it into hi. I think I'm all set. It's going back together now.

Me too. But for some reason i cant get the second shift rail to go in. It seems the ball is sticking out just a little bit.

The balls are the same.  To get the detente back in between the shift rails, you have to lift the rail that is in so the ball can get into a slot.  Glad to see you found the issue and had a spare.  :occasion-xmas:

@Oldskool

That is exactly how I had it. There was just 1/32 " of that ball that was in the way. It was just being spiteful

Knowing more about the engine/tranny might help someone.

I don't know what it is,. but the engine, gas tank and covers look like a stationary power unit.

Poor Hiram. He is almost done, but busy season came to soon. Next rain day I hope to get a bunch done. Meanwhile I did find him a friend today though.

      Let's see your view from your workplace "window". I know some are driving truck,or tractor, work in shops/offices or outdoors. What is it that surrounds you during your work day?

      I've had some stuff laying around for a while now. I've had some ideas kicking around my head for a while as well.
      Well they met each other a few days ago.
      This is going to be a camp buggy of sorts.
      Like any of my other builds I would appreciate any input anyone want to donate.

      The base is an 1982-88 Yamaha G1 golf cart.

      I've wanted to do this type of project for a while now. So here we go. The name was given by @wallfish. It will be called "The Yeti".  It will be painted and badged in a military theme. The front axle is in progress now.
