I know there are some guns and ammo guys here.  A while back, I was given the chance to shoot a .50 Cal BMG.  It was a time I’ll never forget!  I’m glad I didn’t miss the target!

Some serious holes punched, there.

How much does a round of .5 cal cost, anyway?

something like $7.50 a round?  The first guy shooting lefty is Austin, the guy “I married” (to my SIL) but he didn’t marry me.  His step dad’s brother purchased it 8-10 years ago and never was able to find a range willing to let him shoot.  He brought 20 rounds and we shot about half that.  I offered him $10 for my empty casing and he simply gave it to me.

Very cool! :happy-partydance:

I have some .22 shells I’d part with for $10.00 each... :handgestures-thumbupright:

When I was a counselor at Boy Scout camp, .22 rounds were 5¢ and the camp was making a small profit. Admittedly, that was in near prehistoric times, but post-flintlock!

Both of my brothers in law have Barretts but again you can't shoot them just anywhere, one is even thinking of parting with his. Ammo is ridiculous for them as well. Im just as happy bench shooting my 10/22. Ammo was gone at the local Walmart and I mean gone, not one box of anything so I won't be shooting anything other than .22 for awhile. Hopefully it will get back to normal.

Have just read a couple reports from Hornady and a couple others, their saying based on the events of today if they don't become much worse their saying maybe a couple years before shelves are reasonably stocked with ammo again.

imagine that without the muzzle brake? I had a couple brakes on smaller calibers and worked well. That 50 has massive braking power just check out the grass in a V pattern going out from the end of the barrel rearward. Shows up well the guy in the brown jacket.

And if you needed a quick hole to bolt something on......just hold steady this won't take long!

nobody has mentioned the 1 lb of tannerite my BIL shot... I think the 4th guy to go?  The rifle was louder than the explosion!

The Browning 50 cal was more fun (if you got the headspace and timing set right).  Also Uncle was buying the bullets.  The semiauto 50 cal on the 106rr was cool too.  Pull the knob and fire a tracer round if it hit target then push the knob and hit it with 106mm worth of bang!!!

It’s totally reasonable.  Need to shoot a charging grizzly and mice?  Might as well have one tool for the job!

As long as it's not applied to the officially official Wheelhorse counting system that's perfectly good logic.

Difference is that after the shot the bear will be on the ground in front of you. The mouse has vanished so are you sure you hit it?
