Homemade Gifts for the Holidays!

Recommended Posts

:occasion-snowman:So my wonderful wife never grew up doing so called girly things she hung out with her brothers and dad growing up. Anyways she wanted a sewing machine a couple years back so I bought her one and I showed her a few things. I know LOL! I grew up working on tractors with my dad but I also hung around my grandma, and 2 aunts and adopted mom. I learned how to sew, iron and  bla bla bla. We have been down on our luck money wise this year like a lot of folks so she decided to start sewing her famous body pillows and Now stockings. She was on a sewing rampage a couple days ago. My girls and other family love her body pillows.(I do too) Anyways is anybody else doing any homemade gifts?

Haven't even started thinking about Christmas yet this year, but my wife will probably find some creative things she can make.  In the past she's made gifts of scented soaps, body lotions, she's also sewed things, and she is an excellent baker as well, so homemade gifts are usually a part of the process.

And all that being said, even with the season going the way it's been going...Go Broncos!

A few years ago I made a crate to hold our spirits in the camper. I make them out of cedar so that they can handle being left out side on occasion.Since then I usually get a request from a family member or a friend to have one customized for them.

Some picture of the one that I made for our camper.

My wife just got a fancy new sewing machine.  She is not up to making gifts yet, just learning the functions of the machine.  Here is a shot of her first practice piece:

The thing has automatic needle threading, does quilting, embroidery, ribbon embroidery, monogramming, overcasting, and fancy stitches.  Oh ya.  You can do regular plain old sewing on it to.

Nice work. I have a router and a sign kit, but was looking to add some freehand work. What did you use for you designs? Some type of hot iron?

I don't use anything fancy, just a plain old soldering iron. I think it's a Harbor Freight cheapy.

A friend of mine helped me with these homemade hot rods. Sold a couple still have 2 but the kids have long since out grown them.

My son made three more signs. After he gets caught up on orders and working out the bugs. He will be gearing up for some Wheel Horse stuff very soon.
